My DVD recorder has died. Unless it's on catchup, I may never know what happened in the last episode of The Returned. And 3 episodes of Z nation have also vanished into the ether. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I've watched the last episode of the returned a couple of times and still no idea what happened
Think it might be my favourite programme ever though.0 -
Just a quick update on the course hubby looked at as he has decided not to go for it with this company.
It was to train to be a plumber and heating engineer. He'd get his nvq level three. Would have cost about £30 per week, computer based training with some practical days at a training centre, all working around his current job. Apparently would have taken a year and half to complete.
This company own a lot of houses around the country, and the trainees refurbish them as part of their training.
There was no mention of support for if they struggle with their course etc though, just how the company gets cheap labour and in return they get an nvq.
Still struggling, but took Little Sod out for a play in the snow which cheered us all up0 -
My sky box doesn't list it as an on demand programme, C4 don't have it on their website and I didn't record the second series due to a clash with something else (I watched it as broadcast), else I would have offered to burn it to DVD as my freeview recorder can do that. So can't help I'm afraid

Blimey i need to keep up with this thread, i don;t post for a few days and then i have 20+ pages to catch up on (not that i mind as you are all lovely and i like to know what everyone is up to!)
ust had a lovely relaxing bath, work has been wonderful the past week or so as it's been dead and i've not been stressed at all! :j
I;ve got a lot of holiday to lose so i have a week off next week and thne a few shifts and a week off the next week! Shall be using it to see Swain and catch up with my fiends.
Speaking of Swain he has said once we get our own place he;d love a giant kitty, specifically a Maine Coon one. They seem gigantic  and lovely and i quite like the thought of a giant fluffy cat. Obviously it would need a lot of care and an attention, but he's had pets before and currently has a kitty (who is lovely half the time and the other half wats to claw me to death)
I need something new to watch on netlix, i;ve just finished Jessica Jones which was brill but need something new to sink my teeth into. Was considering homeland, mainly cos i figure it could be similar to 24 but also cos one of the main characters has bipolar and that could be interesting to see how they address it (plus i like the fact of a secret agent having bipolar but still doing their job, makes me feel like i can do anything)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Yay to the time off work MU! :j
Funny you should say about Maine Coons. Just been reading this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3403780/These-cats-really-definitely-feline-heavy-Huge-tabbies-weighing-35Ibs-big-hard-pick-internet-hit.html look at the size of them! So gorgeous!0 -
MU, I had two pedigree Maine coons and they take surprisingly little care. Unlike other longhaired cats they only need brushing once a week, they have a short hair layer underneath their long one so they rarely get knots. They are VERY dog like and not entirely what you would expect from a typical cat. They don't tend to be lap cats but they are affectionate and gentle, mine would sleep next to me with one paw or their body always touching me. Oddly enough they love water and swimming, they are highly intelligent and can be trained really easily to follow commands when they wish to (mine knew sit, come, out, dinner and shake paw) and often play fetch. Think of a dog in a cat's body although being cats they won't always cooperate, usually when you are trying to show someone how well trained they are so that you look as if you have lost the plot. Then the visitor will leave and they will run through their training perfectly, you can almost hear them laughing.
Mine were harness trained because you have to be careful about letting them out alone, they love everyone and are very stealable. Plus I didn't think it was fair for an ordinary-sized cat to meet one of mine while out and about in case a fight happened. It's a good idea to have a garden fenced off just for them, but even then they can jump ridiculously high. A lot of breeders have an enclosed area in their gardens for them. They also get lonely and a little boisterous if they don't have company, and at their size bored Maine coons can do a fair bit of damage. They are very playful! If you will both be out a lot during the day get two or get another kitty for yours to play with, they adore other cats that live with them. Mine lived with 3 other non-Maine coons and never so much as hissed at them, they are very laid back at all times with those they know. They were very closely bonded with each other and would often be found curled up together with their paws holding onto each other. Two may be better anyway so you can have one each, they tend to bond to one person. They love everyone but choose their special person whom they will follow from room to room and stick to like glue. Our oldest bonded to WaSp and the baby bonded to me.
Do be aware they can be very territorial to non-family cats though and very pack-like at times if you have more than one, like any other cat. My two used to attempt to attack strange cats together and I occasionally had to drag them both off of an innocent kitty that was walking in the front garden, at their size it's worth remembering that ordinary sized cats are at a disadvantage, mine would just bowl them over. I learnt to keep them on very short leashes until we got away from the house, the first time it happened they had a poor cat on its back before I even realised what was happening and I felt awful (kitty was fine). They were completely approachable and very friendly when meeting cats and dogs away from the house but not on what they saw as their territory. Pretty much like any cat really but on a much bigger scale so you need to watch out for smaller kitties! Having said that mine were wonderful with all children, they allowed themselves to be pulled and picked up and went back for more happily purring. Two huge cats on harnesses attract a lot of children and they always loved them and were very gentle.
If you get pedigree ones do ask to see their parents papers and records (a good breeder should give you these anyway) or get a cross to throw some different genes in there. Like a lot of pedigrees they have a weakness and with Maine coons it is their hearts, make sure neither parents have had any kind of heart problems. They shouldn't be bred if so anyway, but sadly you do get dodgy breeders. The breeder I chose turned out to be terrible and one of the kittens almost died of cat flu (her mother had it) within the first week I had her. Needless to say I reported the breeder and she no longer sells. Other than that go for it! They have very loving temperaments, are wonderful, wonderful cats in general, huge fun and not what you would expect!
I just slept for 14 hours. The man upstairs is away so wasn't running water which meant no leaking! I covered the bed in bin bags, then towels, then a duvet and finally had a good, dry sleep.
