I really should have thought more about buying hubby Gin, Gin glasses and Gin botanicals for Christmas............and adding pineapple chunks to his drinks seems to have topped up his Christmas chocolate raised sugar levels...........very very funny and somehow I don't think he is going to be getting up and going out to clean the motorbikes tomorrow as intended!!!
Lovely chilled day here just watching mum and hubby continue their scrabble tournament. I got a huge pile of Uni books, so I am going to be reading for England over the next few weeks.
Hope everyone has had a calm and contented day. Merry Christmas everyone.

    Cig consumption cut right down.

Well today went well although I am past ready for bed and feel a duvet day is needed.

    Best wishes to all

Is it wrong to hope that one of upstairs hurts themselves during the current large row?

Our Christmas fun started in the very early hours with littlewing having explosive diarrhoea in bed, and chucking up loads of stringy mucus. Poor little thing ended up having a lower-half shower at 4am, followed by another bout of diarrhoea. Then, clean and pj'd up but pale and frail, she decided she needed a mummy cuddle. Daddy had left the marital bed by this stage to push two chairs together in the living room so he could sleep upright as he was so congested. And then in the darkness a sleepy little coughy voice wondered if Santa had been.

No, Santa had forgotten everything by this point and could barely move. Luckily littlewing had dropped off to sleep so I dragged myself out of bed and ensured the Santa presents were by the fireplace.

I think it was about 9am when they were discovered and DS dragged out of bed.

Then DH's family came over for the morning. It was lovely and we were spoilt but littlewing could not raise a smile for the camera. She just wanted to be on my lap. But she was enjoying it, just had no energy.

I had given up on the perfect Christmas a few hours earlier so the dolls house was still in its box, not made up as planned. DS' presents were given to him in gift bags rather than wrapped too. He didn't care.

Then it was off to my family for lunch. They were all suffering too with coughs and colds. But we all managed the turkey lunch, including littlewing which was good. Then I went to warm up by the fire and fell asleep until 7pm so slept through the washing up and the normal present opening time. We ended up having presents after tea so littlewing got a second wind and we didn't get home until about half past midnight. She fell asleep as her head touched the pillow.

I am in my new fleece pj's with their huge furry collar (Tesco). My throat is sore but the collar is wonderful.

I have been reading AA Gill's book (Pour Me), which I am really enjoying. I love the way he uses words.

I have just realised that I still have presents from DH to open. Ran out of time earlier. They are books (including your serial killer one, georgiegirl). I do know what they are as I choose them all, just as he chooses what he wants from me.

I did buy a surprise present too for the family - a nesting box with a camera in. I am hoping DS will set that up. They were pleased with it.

    I am happy.

  • I actually had a really nice day yesterday :) my bessie male friend brought his brother over in the afternoon who has quite severe learning difficulties.. It was a real honour to finally meet him... he loved all the vintagey soft toy animals that I made a few years ago, and he was fascinated with my cats, especially my ginger and white one .

Then in the eve I had the other 2 members of my friend family over, which was so nice as I rarely have them both over at the same time.I got some really nice presents, my fave being a huge amethyst geode crystal that looks like a crystal cave, and my friends were happy with all of their freebie presents. And we really laughed.. proper belly laughter .. I haven't laughed that hard for as long as I can remember.. I felt really loved yesterday , and it was actually my best christmas in years.. I thought I was going to be alone, but I wasn't .. I really hope all of your christmases were lovely too :) Whitewing, I love your signature tag line" because these wierdos are your true family " :)
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)

I can't take the credit for my signature - JM saw it on facebook and we adapted it slightly.

Glad you've all had happy successful days (bar the sickness for the WW family of course). I had a lovely day too, and my first time cooking Christmas Dinner was a success! :j The turkey was so moist and full of flavour. My Mam had a lovely day and enjoyed everything, and that's what really mattered :)

Once again I got loads of lovely things! A set of fleecy pjs and a pair of fleecy lounge pants off D. He also got me this really cool oil burner http://www.amazon.co.uk/Himalayan-Natural-Burner-Yankee-Tealight/dp/B00VPMDWQQ
which matches my other rock salt candle holders, and loads of wax tarts and a wood wick (the one with the crackly wick) candle. An adult colouring book, a tattoo one, and a wrap of colouring pencils and quite a few other bits and bobs too!

His Mam got me another oil burner and tarts and some more candles, so I am well stocked up on them lol! :rotfl: Oh, and a bottle of Fireball Whiskey!

My Mam gave me a good chunk of money, some scratch cards and a bottle of a Fireball Whiskey, so I am well stocked up on that too!

The "Secret Santa" which isn't so secret really, it's easy to figure out, was off the BIL and SIL that buy stuff more suited to a pensioner! It's always kinda fun opening it and wondering what it's gonna be! One year I got a handbag which was regifted to my Mam, who loves it! This year, they did good fairly good though and I got these, they're so cute http://www.marksandspencer.com/faux-fur-owl-slipper-boots/p/p22402715
, some Haribo and some toiletry bags which weren't to my taste but my Mam liked them!

Ah, you got that book then WW? Hope you enjoy (is that the right phrase about a SK book?!) it, I found it a very interesting read.

Eta: The nesting box sounds fun WW! I've always fancied one of them. :)
