  • Argh! I didn't know that Ginger, thanks for the warning! Hopefully the lactose free milk JM recommended will work, other than that milkshake powder in water is nice too, right? Right??

  • They look really yummy, whitewing! Thank you! I have sent WaSp shopping for some lactose free milk so I might try the banana one later!

    I have also just emailed my doctor as I appear to have two different Epi-pens and I have no idea why...

  • That's a thought, Indie! I admit that I have never tried goats milk or cheese in my life but I think it's time to do so. She also suggested almond and rice milk but they cost a fortune! Most of the reactions were based around a specific protein, at least gluten was fine!

    If you look around, you can quite often get 3 litres of lactose free for £3 - http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=258877943.

    PS I think it really IS lactose free. This is what their site says.

    Lactose free*
    * Less than 0.03% lactose
    *We use rigorous scientific testing to ensure that Lactofree dairy drink contains no lactose, using the most accurate UKAS-accredited tests available, enabling us to detect lactose at a trace level of 0.03%. At this level our tests show that there is no lactose present in Lactofree.

    WaS, Sainsbury's online price for Alpro almond milk is £1 litre, compared with 0.79p a litre for s/s milk. And AsdA is £1 too! Not a massive difference and you could bulk buy as it doesn't need to be kept in the fridge until it's opened.

    It's not good in tea or coffee, but is fine for porridge, and I'm sure it'd be fine in milkshakes and other mixed things.

    If it's still too expensive, you could buy some just for milkshakes?

  • Awww, they are gorgeous photo's Pyxis! I want a seal!

    Thank you for the milk tips! That most certainly is affordable! I am also wondering what happens to my calcium levels now? Does any one know if Lactose free milk still has the same calcium level? I try to have extra because I already have osteoarthritis and my medication causes a depletion of calcium.

    The almond milk has added calcium....120mg per 100ml which is the same as s/s milk.
