yes it is on tripadvisor, and yes i have posted pics on there. When others have complained, the owner comes up with an excuse each and every time.
He has also replied to my review, to which i wish i could reply, as it is a load of tosh,
Since when did a mattress' get stains on from being stored against wooded items? Where was this mattress being stored?
And a mattress protector is there to protect the mattress from spills etc, not to protect us!

Im sorry, but i know that the stain was from a woman, it is blatently obvious.

But ah well, you live and learn

oh and we also wondered this... our room key was also used to open the main front door, which is locked at all times, does that mean that everyone's room key will open everyone else's rooms too? so, our room key, will open say room 20 etc? and vice versa?

I've seen that key system before. All keys will open the front door and will only the door to one room.

I like the managers response to your review. He is basically calling you a compensation scrounger!

Most trip advisor reviews for this place are very good. 4 out of 5 stars and with the exception of the OP's review no 1 star reviews since 2010. If the hotel was as bad as the OP has reported then I would expect many bad reviews over the last few years.

I always think any complaint is weakened when nothing is said while you are there and instead you send an email once you get home. All you can be really after at that point is some form of compensation (as there is no other remedy that you can hope for)
  • no was not after compensation at all, we did not say we had enjoyed our stay, he said to us "oh, you're of aswell then are you" we said yes, he took our key and walked away through a door and left us standing there!

There is not even an appology from him, nothing,,, isn't it good etique to applogise even though they may or may not be in the wrong/right?
I would've said something like " im so sorry you did not enjoy your stay, we have looked into the matter " blah blah blah..
He hasn't once done this, he has just fired back at us.
If he had stayed around long enough, we would've complained!

We stayed at a hotel, overnight, it was supposed to be our late honeymoon. On arrival, he was welcoming, but the hotel was a bit oldy worldy.. rooms needed some serious updating, but it was a querky place, so rolled with it.
Our room had spectacular views, but it was small, i mean real small. There was a bed, a small cupboard which had the tv and coffee making facilities on it, a walk in wardrobe(sort of), and a bathroom that was on a slant??
Let;s start with the bathroom, the sink and pedastal didnt sit together properly and could be moved, no bathroom shelf or cabinet for toothbrushes, just a couple of cups. The shower had all the pipes showing (as it is an old house), and when you opened the shower door, the water spilled everywhere onto the floor (remember, were on a slant in there), the holder that the toiletries were in was dirty. The room itself now, they obviously hadn't cleaned under the bed, as i lost a back of my earing, and pulled out a few crumbs when looking for it. The mattress was heavily stained, (didn't notice until the morning when making bed), though it did have a mattress protector on it. The pillow also had stains.
The upstairs room above us had the most awful squeaking floorboards, and they kept us awake until 1am, walking about and opening and shutting the drawers, then again at 5.30am!
The breakfast was lovely, although a tad small, 1 sausage, 1 bacon, 1 egg, 1 small hash brown, and beans. There was toast though and a help yourself cereal etc.
On our departure, we didn't get chance to complain,, we were tired, fed up, and the owner just took the key and disapeard.
So we sent an email, and 5 days later we had a reply... apparently, the staining on the mattress was independently inspected and it was found to be from being stored, against some wooded item apparently..... yea right,.. i know a soiled mattress from humans when i see it!!!
And yes i do have pictures of all my complaints.....
    Rant over!!!

Looking at the front of the hotel-it looks like a typical seaside hotel with the decor to match -no surprises there for me-and particularly in llandudno which is a genteel old fashioned town?
Did you not look at photos of the bedrooms-you could see exactly that the rooms are not up to the minute? All of the hotels rooms
    Look the same!!
They look like the typical coach tour hotel. Not exactly honeymoon material , in my mind.but it's what you chose..??!!

Yuk! I see what you mean, that is definitely some sort of "water" stain, and should not be in use. Hotel looks nice from the outside but reading some of the other reviews they are not all 100% satisfactory. I would think that nobody else looked under the mattress protector. Put it down to experience, you might laugh about it one day :undecided
