Yes, I agree, being obsessed by extreme scenarios is odd. Hence I am in the boring sensible middle; assuming things can go up and down and positioning myself to be in the best financial position for any possible outcome. Remember Britain is full of rather dull but sensible people who disapprove of extremes.

Britain has changed since the 1950`s I believe, but what people in Britain want or don`t want is irrelevant, they don`t have much power over global markets and economic trends. It is all down from here for a while I`m afraid.

I'll ask again just in case you missed my original question posted further up this thread:
    What's your BCR Crashy Wrashy?

You sound like someone who hangs around Gents toilets mate, go and get a job or something.

I take it from your curt reply that you've not bothered to calculate it.

Sorry, that reply was a bit nasty, but it does fit with some of the nasty vibes on here you probably have to admit? The honest answer is that I really don`t care about it, everything doesn`t revolve around being attached to a property via a mortgage, and there are going to be many who have calculated it in the last few years that will be worse off than me when TSHTF because the debt they took on is just too big (I know you could maybe say it hasn`t happened yet, but let`s be honest, the indicators are all there now, with central banks nearly out of ammo that they can use credibly without social unrest taking root?)

If you don't know how much you've invested in project SHTF then if/ when the big crash comes how will you know if it was worth it? For most people it really would be the strangest thing to think about but when your user names are 'crashy time' and 'dances with sheeple' there's possibly an expectation you might have run the figures.

The longer you rent the less likely you'll break even and, judging by some of the figures you've quoted, you're already beyond that point anyway.

I know you don't care for debt anymore but buying a house with a mortgage is a really boring way not to have to rely predictions of TSHTF coming true to break even.

Can you keep the foul language to the HPC cesspit please?

Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

I think we all know this place is a bit of a joke. It may be slightly less vile than HPC but I wouldn't get carried away. Just look at some of the recent threads.

Just a suggestion. I like the HPC stuff as much as the next person (OK quite a lot more) but maybe we should keep all HPC related stuff in this thread to avoid putting off people for whom it has no interest whatsoever?

When we get to the post limit we could start a new HPC thread with a jazzy and witty name - like the nice people do.

No problem, I don't take personally things people online say. Perhaps you weren't feeling yourself or maybe you are just a tad frustrated with your life situation. I imagine renting is less than pleasurable. That said I am wonder if you have no valid BCR calculated at what point will you know that enough is enough money wasted and will buy a home to move on with your life.
