The best way is to use treated wood to make a frame and fill the void. Fix this securely to the reveals, then fix the window to the frame. Expanding foam any gaps around either of the frames (use stuff that doesn't expand too much and that dries quickly) then seal around the outside and plaster the internal reveal.0 -

Blimey if you have lived like that for a year or so you deserve a sainthood, I know that I would of been kicking off a very long time ago in your position.0 -

You are a better person than I. I would have had to live elsewhere rather than in your house the last year.
So well done you for putting up with that kind of life.
I really hope you are able to name the company soon as I think I know who it is but would love confirmation.63 mortgage payments to go.

LOL - :A
Our house was like that solidly for a good 6 weeks, possibly 8, from the beginning of January (lintel replacement started on the 5th January). Living in that with 2 small children, it was a nightmare and its a miracle that there weren't any accidents!
Before that (August to the end of December) we remained structurally unsound with acros supporting our house.
From the end of February we have had fresh plaster on the walls covering the new lintels and cracks, created from the lintel removal, leaving a horrible residue if brushed against by accident. The builder has sporadically come to sand them and each time covering the floor in what can only be described as sticky cling film and leaving our entire house in a light covering of plaster dust.
So since the 17th of this month the flooring in our house has been exposed again fully and works have stopped. I can enjoy the house with the children over the summer while my husband is not here (well apart from the box bay wannabe, aka chipboard, tarpaulin and bricks).0 -

It has been really really tough, we only moved in in May 2015 and at the beginning part of 2016 we were starting to hate the place. Whenever we talk about windows our daughter now says "why do you keep talking about windows". Obviously she doesn't understand the full extent of what has happened, so cant make out why we talk about it a lot.
I wont be mentioning any names, not sure if anyone would be able to guess who they are anyway. Happy for any guesses though to see if there is a trend!
