There is no way on earth I would have waited a year to resolve, It would have been a fair timeframe for them to complete correctly or I would have taken legal action, Seams silly to allow this to drag on for so long and also why not utilise home insurance legal cover if it is there as in a large number of policies.0

I agree fully with your sentiment. Clairebare1 is a lot, lot, lot more tolerant and accepting of the situation than I would be.
Ultimately when the bill comes to be paid, (assuming it has not already been paid) there should be some thorough soul searching, and reflecting, on the whats and whys in this sorry saga.0 -
We did not envisage it taking this long - had we known we would be in the position we are now then, we would have done something about it or done things differently. We have been very trusting and believed them whenever they have told us something would be done, and some of the time things have been done, but unfortunately other times things haven't. Less than a month ago we were told this was going to be sorted before my husband went away as they wanted to get the job signed off and everything was in panic mode again from them and then all of a sudden nothing. Through the course of our dealings with the window company, time seems to have slipped away and with everything taking a few weeks to book in and then it not happening and then booking again - before you know it a year has passed!!0

Well they would certainly not be getting the full payment off of me if I was in your position I'd be stating this to them upon completion, I would want a lot off of this overall balance to cover all the time taken, Issues caused, If time taken off work and so on prior to any agreement of anything else being paid to them.
Claire stand your ground when it comes to the final bill here and be ruthless about it.0 -
IIRR OP has not paid the bill for the windows. I am guessing the strategy is not to name them in the hope of negotiating a lower bill.
If so, judging by the incompetence all have witnessed I am not convinced this strategy will work.Stevie_Palimo wrote: »Well they would certainly not be getting the full payment off of me if I was in your position I'd be stating this to them upon completion, I would want a lot off of this overall balance to cover all the time taken, Issues caused, If time taken off work and so on prior to any agreement of anything else being paid to them.

That is the strategy, if it does not work we will be letting all who wish to know who they are and what they have done to our house.0 -

This is fine, but do not feel obliged to sign a non disclosure order. I have never been tempted, and had a huge dispute (yours is tiddly in comparison) where I held out to the final line refusing to sign. The other party then backed down.
Equally there are ways to name them even if you do sign a non disclosure order...but this is another subject area.0 -
Here are a few photos of our house at the beginning of the year.

There are plenty more photos, but these are the only ones I have on my phone at the moment.0 -
I would send them a letter giving them 14 days to rectify all of the problems or I would seek another party to finish the works and deduct this from the bill.
I would then be looking at paying a lot less than they wanted.
Start an official complaint and if it isn't dealt with properly then get it escalated. Depending on how the deal was structured you may well be covered by the financial ombudsman. It will cost the company £900 to have the ombudsman look at the file.0 -

Exactly this. Full foam is the way to go.0
