So we're all the same, right? How about all the able-bodied drivers who park in a Blue Badge bay because "I won't be a minute - just nipping to the shop/bank/Post office, etc?" Are all a-b drivers guilty of doing the same? Go 'epitomise' someone else!
The OP is entitled to an Appeal IMHO, the application of a little commonsense and humanity should be applied.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

It stops a car used for gran from potentially being broken into. How is the able bodied person being benefitted by having to park far away from where they left gran off, and presumably, having to come back to get her? If the trip is purely for the benefit of gran, I don't see how this really makes a difference - what am I missing?!
You are right. It does not make a difference (if the trip was purely for the benefit of the BB holder. You just need to explain this to the council.
Council's do not like BB holders clogging up spaces that could be occupied by paying customers. You parked twice in a "long stay" car park. Obviously alarm bells rang and they issued a ticket. Sometimes it is best to park on single yellows somewhere out of the way where there is little traffic and you are not causing an obstruction in any way. That way the council does not feel cheated out of a car park fee. I am sure you will avoid that long stay car park in future.
Good luck.0 -
I shall post the result of my appeal, tho after hearing all the comments am not holding my breath.
Thanks for all the comments tho (good/bad/indifferent) have helped as personally was just gonna pay up without the appeal process.0 -

By my reading, that's exactly what it was used for. Leave gran off, go park the car.
abda, do keep us up to date, and good luck!0 -

I think it all depends on distances.
If the OP dropped off their gran and then went to park somewhere that was a mile or two away despite there being places much closer then the appeal may well fail.
What sort of distances are we talking about here abda? and what did you do after you had parked up the car?0 -

Who can use the badge?

The badge is for your use and benefit only. It must only be displayed if you are travelling in the vehicle as a driver or passenger, or if someone is collecting you or dropping you off and needs to park at the place where you are being collected or dropped.
Do not allow other people to use the badge to do something on your behalf, such as shopping or collecting something for you

• You must never give the badge to friends or family to allow them to park for free, even if they are visiting you.

You should not use the badge to allow non-disabled people to take advantage of the benefits while you sit in the car. This includes people other than the badge holder taking advantage of the parking concessions provided under the scheme.
