PCN for not using blue bags correctly?!
Took my nan into town and dropped her at Primark and I didn't want to use the pay &display near Sheffield cab court Jcp so went into long stay at workhouse lane behind the family courts as fugues secure since by a very busy road - an extra cautious as have had my car broken into before in Sheffield and the council did nothing to help by saying no cctv on that road!
Anyways back to today, they left a PCN on my windscreen stating that they think I have been mis-using the blue badge as we have used the same car park on two days running?
Since when can they assume disabled people can't go into town for more that 1 day a week.
Tbh my gran has only recently renewed her badge as she hadn't been out of the house for almost 2 yrs with illnes so is making up for lost time or until she is bedridden agin!
As long as the badge is valid we should be able to successfully appeal right?

no course u can go anywhere u like but maybe theyve witnessed twice u getting out alone and have no idea youve just dropped your nan off
i would appeal though ive seen on a few programs peoplebeing done for misuse just because they were visiting the person while using the blue badgeWhat goes around-comes around0 -
So you dropped your grandmother - the blue badge holder - then went off and parked the car without her being in it?
That, right there, is abuse of the blue badge. The badge is intended to allow the badge holder - your grandmother - to reduce the distance she has to travel from parking place to destination. It is not for your convenience just because you happen to have given her a lift.0 -
As AdrianC says, you have abused the badge..... no question.
If you are simply 'dropping off' then you don't need the badgemake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

i dont know the rules but that sounds very reasonable to me. i see blue badge abusers do this and its annoying. a guy near me parks his vehicle on an awkward spot on a double yellow all the time. there are residents bays availzble but he parks on dbl yellowjust cos he can. the disabled badge is for his daughter but he does this all the !!!!!!! time.0 -
Ok, the only reason went round the back of the courts was because the only parking near Argos is near the Jcp & I have had my window smashed before so tbh I can't afford to get it fixed again which is now, even tho she is with me I will drop her and her carer outside the store but then park at a safe place even if it means I have to park a block away - by doing that I didn't realise I was doing wrong!
In that case I shall pay up.0 -
I was hoping this was going to be a thread about recycling. Very disappointing.0

I though it was going to be about chemical toilets:

OP has dropped gran off, then parked a car, twice in a week. They vehicle is being used for gran. How is that abuse?
OP, they probably think you're abusing it as you've been 'caught' in the car on your own, without her. An explanatory letter stating you've dropped her off and were parking the car should do the job.0 -

OP has dropped gran off, then parked a car, twice in a week. They vehicle is being used for gran. The badge is intended for on-street parking only. Off-street car parks, such as those provided in local authority, hospital or supermarket car parks are governed by separate rules.
The badge is for your use only................................it must only be displayed if someone is collecting you or dropping you off and needs to park at the place where you are being collected or dropped.0
