I read all the comments and decided to go ahead anyway and order UGG boots from Australia Direct. Well, they were here within a couple of days. I have been in constant contact with the company and today my daughter's UGG boots arrived. They are genuine as far as I can see. in Perfect condition, good quality and just what she wants for Christmas. I am really pleased. I have seen many fake UGGS around. The G in the middle needs to be bigger than the other writing. Well done Australia Direct!:j0

It is not just the G that needs to be bigger to tell them apart from a 'fake'. Indeed, the boots with the word UGG are made well too. They are all UGG boots as this is a Generic term but Australia Direct have been selling boots that are not 'authentic' and made by Deckers for the same price as authentic branded boots. As you can get hold of these fake boots for around £20 it is a bit 'naughty' to claim you are selling genuine boots and charge for genuine boots and then send boots that are clearly 'fakes'. However, as has been established (but no-one is taking the risk or 'rewarding' and buying from the company that has been ripping off other MSE'rs in this way) the chocolate boots seem fine, it is the black ones that there is issue with.
UGG is a generic name for the Ugg sheepskin boot. Yes, you can buy lots of these everywhere, the are all Ugg Boots. However, what makes them 'authentic' is that Deckers make the boots labelled Ugg Australia and this is a Brand Name and there are authorised stockists of these boots - yes, you are paying for the name on the boot as well.
However, there are many fakes around bearing this label at the back of the boot that are fakes and not 'the genuine article' and if you did not know the difference you would not know what to look for - just check out eBay and you'll see how many Ugg Boots are for sale showing this label - but check the description, they call them Uggs, not Ugg Australia Boots by Deckers. And this is the difference between a 'fake' and the genuine article.0 -
I know I say it on every page but everyone......
If you HAVE to buy them from eBay read the description in full. Most state they are genuine Uggs but as Ugg is a generic name you can't have them for the description. Make sure you are getting ones that state they are Genuine Ugg Australia Boots - not ones that state Australian Uggs as these fakes, especially if bearing the label!! don;t line thepockets of fraudsters and con artists this time of year!!0 -
I still have my Cozyboots size 3 short classic blacks here not worn and all in the packaging still, I've got them up on eBay this week due to end the Wednesday before Xmas, but if any MSE'r wants them at cost + postage then please ask. I've had to put my fees on the eBay price but I am happy to sell them at cost to any MSE'r, I am not in it for profit, I just want to recoup what I paid for them so I am not out of pocket.0

My 4 pairs of boots from Australia Direct also came very quickly with great communication from them, however all of the boots sent turned out to be fakes (as confirmed by the official UK distributor). I am presently reclaiming the cost of the items through my credit card company. If you want to check whether they are fakes post a picture of the soles and the heels as I now know what to look for.
My boots have gone to UGG Australia in the UK for further investigation. Not sure what that means but would hope that Australia Direct get what should be coming to them for their underhand attempt to rip off their customers, many of whom will probably never know they have been conned.0 -

Please, please, please heed the advice on the Australia direct boots, If you have chocolate then I'm pretty sure you will be ok, as I notice they have none of the other colours for sale...funny as its been mentioned on here that their boots are being tested.
As Blue monkey said, the G is not what says a fake boot, ebay is flooded with so called 'Genuine Ugg Australia boots' they are in fact countefeit copies of the boots and are made of a lower quality grade of materials, the sole and upper will not wear as it should. Some are not even made of sheepskin but suede which is awful!!
If you got chocolate then do not worry as no MSE has queried that colour but every other colour has been queried at some point in this thread, I know the chestnuts are not right as I had a pair. The man James who works at Aussiedirect soon disappeared when we put pressure on him about fake boots, followed by them no longer selling those colours.

I just thought I would list a few things to look out for when buying UGG Australia boots, the name is sadly not enough to ensure you are buying Genuine boots.
If anyone has any other points please add them.
Do not buy from anyone who is covering the bottom part of the inside label....it will say new zealand or australia under that finger!!
The soles little R's in circles should be offset with a gap between them, the tread on the soles should be thick and chunky looking.
The Ugg label should be set halfway up that back section on the short boots, if there is a big amount of the section above the label they may be fake as the fakes are made he same regardless of height. (the talls have a slightly bigger gap above the logo) Also the heels shouldnt be narrow looking from the back of the boot.
The inside wool should be fairly thick looking and not fluffy soft looking.
The toes from the side shouldnt be sloped genuine boots have more of a curvey chunky appearance.
If anyone is not sure list a link here and I'm sure one of the beady eyes here can help.0 -
