Have just phoned parcelforce for the cost of my parcel.
The customs charge was £6 the VAT was £17.54 and the parcel force admin/handling charge was £13.50
Total charge £37.04
Husband says he is happy to dispute it if I want but I really want my boots nowWhen he told woman on phone he wasnt prepared to pay the handling charge she told him "you won't get your parcel then" he replied "I will be taking legal advice then as you are holding my parcel illegally".
Next stage we are phoning customs for their advice- Make 2023 in 2023 # £00/2023

Looking at the vat charge it seems they have taken the value of the goods at £100. Surely that can't be right
Do they take the shipping as well I wonder- Make 2023 in 2023 # £00/2023

I have been following this thread for sometime.
I ordered a pair of Chestnut Tall UGGS from AD about 3 weeks ago. 2 weeks later I received an email from James advising me that due to a computer error the site had been accepting orders without having the stock. They have sold out of all colours of tall except chocolate but were almost sold out of them. He doesn't know when they will be receiving anymore. He asked whether I wanted to change my order to chocolate but would need to respond asap. I already have chocolate short so I asked them to cancel my order.
Having checked the comments on here I'm glad they were out of stock. It sounds as if the chestnut one's are possibly fakes.
I ordered a pair from Hartings at the weekend and am waiting for them to be delivered. Does anyone know how long approx they take from Hartings? I'm hoping aswell that I don't incur the customs charge. I have been stung for this in the past. I requested they put a low value on.
Hi - I think you've done well! I got a fake pair of tall black uggs from AD - I still havent had a reply from them  but I did get my Choc pair from Hartings yesterday :T I ordered them on the 21st (a Sunday) so that makes it around 10 days. There was no customs. It said "footwear" and an amount in NZ$ which I couldn't read because of a smudge! There was no original box but they were packed in a small sturdy box with the care card.:hello:Hello!0 -
Just found this on the customs website
3.5 Why do I have to pay a handling fee to Royal Mail?
If customs charges are payable upon importation Royal Mail charge a handling fee to cover the costs for operating the postal customs depot, handling the package for customs examination, and, if required, opening, repacking and resealing the package if, for example information is missing from the declaration. Royal Mail fees are itemised separately on the charge label and collected at the same time as customs charges. Because they are completely separate from any customs charges any queries about them should be raised with Royal Mail or Parcelforce Worldwide as appropriate.
Also, it states that the importer is personally liable for paying the customs. So, if you receive them without incurring any customs (either because of luck or because they have been marked down in value or gift) then the receiver is still liable to inform customs and pay the fee, otherwise you could be prosecuted.
Interesting eh? Like we are all going to volunteer to pay!!0 -

looks like they can......
Inclusion of postage charges in customs value - Article 165 of EC Regulation (EEC) 2454/93 requires all postal charges levied up to the place of destination in respect of goods sent by post to be included in the customs value of the goods. However, this does not apply to gifts other than those sent by Express Mail Services.0 -
Hmmm, I think I'm just gonna go and pay up. I know its giving in to them and thats why they do it but I have still got them cheaper than over here (just!) I am not a confrontational person (spineless OH says
) but for the sake of £13 I am not refusing my boots. I just can't leave them there, poor babies hehe
Not happy tho and I was gonna get a pair for my DD dont know if I will now:(
Thanks Caroline seems there is no option, if thats how it is then thats how it is, I'm off to get my boots!!! yay- Make 2023 in 2023 # £00/2023

I also agree with monkeysarereallyfunny that you've done really well in ordering from Hartings. I was also going to order from AD a few weeks ago and was put off by reading posts on here and have now ordered and received 2 pairs of UGGs from Hartings :j . The both took about 12 days to come, but I emailed them to ask how long they would be after about a week and they sent me a tracking no. so I could track them through parcelforce. They replied really quickly every time I emailed them. They also wrote that it was a gift on the front with the value of $49 NZ, so there were no charges.
Enjoy your boots when they arrive:j0 -
Would anybody know what a women's UK 3 is equivalent to in children's sizing? Was looking to purchase some sheepskin boots for the mother in law but since they don't seem to make them smaller than a 4 or 5, was wondering if anyone would know what a 3 might be equivalent to? Thanks!0
