  • Because if they did that you would not pay their extortionate "admin" charges. This way they hang onto your package and won't give it to you unless you pay. This is illegal because the package is your property and the charge is unnecessary and has been imposed without your knowledge and the knowledge of the seller.
Are you supposed to pay up first and then go for a refund of their admin charges or refuse to pay in the first place?

Do you know if fedex is ok with charges? do they charge on all items or just the few that get caught?

I have never had anything sent to me from them without incurring a customs charge, unless the item was put as value £0 however I'm sure there are plenty of other people who haven't been charged by Fedex, this customs thing seems a bit haphazard.

I think you would have to dispute the payment in the first place and refuse to pay it and then get them to agree this so they dispatch your item(s).
  • Have just telephoned parcelforce and apparently my customs charge is £37.

Not particularly happy as the boots only cost £63.50 (without postage), I have never been charged this much before, the highest customs charge was when I spent $300 and got charged £12.00.

It seems so unfair that there is no 'standard', they seem to be able to randomly charged what they fancy!

Also parcelforce tried to make me pay the customs charge without the letter, over the phone, when I asked if they could send me a fax or email copy of the letter (because I want to know how much administration fee they are charging me) they just said they didn't have a copy at that depot and did I want to pay it now? I wouldn't pay a bill without looking at it first, that's just silly. So someone is ringing me back at 9.00 o discuss, will let you know how it goes.

My husband ordered some tools from USA and Fedex delivered them. No mention of customs until 2 weeks later when we got a bill from Fedex for £80. I rang them (as I wasn't impressed  ) and really didn't have an option. It had to be paid.

Also Mookie, do you mind if I PM you about your boots, you probably remember I was on few weeks ago when first got mine and I'm also having mare trying to return them and think we used same company!

£37! are they having a laugh.

Thats ridiculous, i would tell them what the value of the goods is and ask how they can justify that kind of charge on a item of fairly low value, its not a big package, doesnt weigh much either.

    Hope you get it sorted.
  • Hi,

I have been following this thread for sometime.

I ordered a pair of Chestnut Tall UGGS from AD about 3 weeks ago. 2 weeks later I received an email from James advising me that due to a computer error the site had been accepting orders without having the stock. They have sold out of all colours of tall except chocolate but were almost sold out of them. He doesn't know when they will be receiving anymore. He asked whether I wanted to change my order to chocolate but would need to respond asap. I already have chocolate short so I asked them to cancel my order.

Having checked the comments on here I'm glad they were out of stock. It sounds as if the chestnut one's are possibly fakes.

I ordered a pair from Hartings at the weekend and am waiting for them to be delivered. Does anyone know how long approx they take from Hartings? I'm hoping aswell that I don't incur the customs charge. I have been stung for this in the past. I requested they put a low value on.

Hi Mookie, thanks for your PM - unfortunately I can't read it! :o I keep getting bounced from "you must log in to read this page" to "you must register" ... and on and on! Not sure what's going on but thanks for your reply! Maybe I'm too new to read them? I did disable the popup blocker. I also wanted to post some pics of my dodgy boots from AD but I can't add attachments either!
