    You should look in to POA regardless of mental capacity. The OH and I are going to get POA of each other as soon as we get back from getting married, and we're both younger than 35 and as fit as a fiddle.

    I'd just feel happier knowing if that I was ever housebound/incapacitated that he could manage all of my affairs for me. He already has POA for his father who is neither physically or mentally incapacitated, but similar to you they have a trusting relationship and who knows when you may need it!

    I agree, you should get financial and health and welfare LPAs set up as soon as possible. My husband did it for his mum and it took a few months to go through (although they are supposed to have made it easier recently). Once it's set up, you don't have to use it if it's not needed, but you will know it is there so if something happens and you need it urgently, everything is in place.
