  • Just run the clearscore and it told me about my credit rating and cards etc that I have now. What I really wanted was details of anything that may have had a PPI attached historically as per the show on Friday so that I might be able to claim for a mis-selling. Any ideas anyone?
  • Contact those lenders who you think you had PPI with, outlining your reasons for mis sale.

You won't find details on your credit files.

    Ok. .
  • Just done a Clearscore check all was easy and straight forward though did take awhile for final check.
I found I still had a store card which I thought was cancelled.
What did surprise me was that every time you use a comparison site for car insurance it's shows on your score. Dose this effect your score?

Nope, that's only for you to see, lenders don't see that. Those markers are identity checks, not credit checks. Makes sense since buying car insurance is not entering into a credit contract.
  • I signed up fine with CreditExpert (I think), but can't register with either Clearscore or Equifax. Tried exactly the same details as when registering with CreditExpert, but neither accept me as a person. I've lived at the same address for 9 years, but the mortgage and bills are in my husband's name, even though I pay them. I guess I'll need him to add me to those accounts so that I "exist", especially as my bank knows me by my maiden name. Arg!!
  • Further to my recent post, I CAN register with checkmyfile.com and access the info I was looking for, immediately. Seems like a good service.

Any advice on how to link my married self up with my maiden self in terms of credit file would be appreciated. I searched with my maiden name as that is who my bank and phone know me as, but I'm registered with the electoral roll and other bits of life with my married name...

Just notify all your banks of your change of marital status. They will probably want to see your marriage certificate or an official copy of it. Notify all banks at the same time if you can; this might help avoid conflicting information from different banks.

  • Does applying via one of the offers increase your chances of being accepted as it is tailored to you or are they loosely aimed at a wide blanket?
