    Evening all,

    Been a busy day so this is the first time I've had to post.
    Today I have
    :D Breakfast was ys yogurt & banana's
    :D Walked the boys to the bus stop
    :D Went to the gym and did a class instead of having a personal trainer session, I must keep it up it will save me at least £75 a month.
    :D Filled water bottle at the gym
    :D Had shower/dried hair at the gym
    :D Made lunches for family tomorrow
    :D Lovely weather, so my dad came over to help me with cleaning out the gutters, cleaning then painting the backboards - no cost as we had all the paint/cleaning stuff in the garage anyway
    :D Also painted the rendered bits on the front of the house (didn't bother with re doing the side as no one can see it, will do that next time, saving a bit of paint ;)
    :D Dinner was left over sausages chopped into a pasta bake.
    :D Went to pick kids up from karate (I always get there 10-15 mins early and pop into see the end of the lesson) but as I pulled in, in front of my car was a lovely blackberry bush!! In dh's car he keeps some food bags so managed to pick quite a lot in that 15mins, (will go a bit earlier on Wednesday and have another go! ;)
    :D 3 loads washed at 30 degrees on the quick wash & all dried on the line
    :D Updated spreadsheets

    Ziggy & Yorkshire hope you're both feeling better now. Hope everyone else is doing well too

    Just Cheese and Ham. Read a thread about freezing sandwiches and was curious if they were any good. It said not to use mayo or egg. Could be handy for me.

    Dawn - How was the pup last night? Any improvements? I thought of you over the weekend with the news about how many dogs are removed from their owners for years on end, because of the suspected breed. I felt very sorry for both dog an owner, and just thought, how can they allow these things to just drag on like that? Who is it really helping?

    Pup sleeps in the kitchen on his own without too much fuss now, thank goodness. Not sure what 'suspected breed' is?

    Yes I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I've read similar about people making a weeks worth of sandwiches on a Saturday for the week ahead.
    If you think about it, a pizza is just cheese on bread so why not freeze a cheese sandwich. I think so long as common sense is exercised, like not freezing and defrosting a prawn mayo one it's fine.

    Evening all, I've had the worst day today :( My car is very old (20 years old!) but it has always been a trooper, however this morning, it didn't start at all, I kept trying it for about 15 minutes, then it started, however is so unsafe to drive, has no power and I nearly got hit at a roundabout as it didn't pull away :( So that's my car off to scrappage, for all £75 of him! :( Back to the bus I guess as I can't afford a new car any time soon! :(

    Are you sure it is something that can't be fixed without too much expense Katy Ann? Sometimes even small faults can have alarming effects. A car I had once would randomly cut out, in town, on the motorway, anywhere :eek: The garage couldn't find anything wrong with it for ages, and it even had to go back to the manufacturer (luckily it was still under warranty). It turned out to be just an earth lead, which, if I had to pay for it, would have cost virtually nothing, but had such a scary effect :eek:

    My sis makes my nieces sandwiches for a couple of weeks at a time and freezes it, she only does either ham or cheese and takes them out in the morning puts in her lunch bag and its defrosted by lunchtime.

    Had a pretty peaceful day but felt very, very lazy, we managed a few things (between the 3 of us)

    Packed lunch for DH & DS
    all meals from cupboards/freezer
    cleaned our own black bin (as opposed to pay £2.50 per fortnight - my neighbour was shocked when I told her that works out to £60 a year)
    checked banks
    wrote a few postcard comps
    entered a few online comps (all free to enter)
    sold 3 items of jewellery (£15)
    watched tv on catch up
    freegler called to pick up a few bits
    checked postcode lottery and myluckyphone (thanks legomum)
    bumped "sale posts"
    DH fetched a box from garage - it had part dinner service in, offered on freegle

    Haha, perhaps I should have more "complete rest" days :rotfl:

  • Evening just popping in to catch up. I've had an extremely busy no spend day. I am exhausted and i'm about to turn out the light. The rest of week looks hectic, I'll do my best to post through out the week, if not have a good one.

    Ziggy & Yorkshirelass wishing you both a speedy recovery.

    Hope you're feeling better soon Ziggy and Yorkshirelass...
    Greensalad - sounds like you have a great day planned out. I am a bit jealous.
    Ally - I had the same issue with PayPal when I refunded an upset eBay buyer a few weeks ago. It took blimming ages to refund less than £2 as it went through e-cheque...
    Katy_ann I am so sorry to hear about your car. I would be lost without mine... Hope you can manage to save for a new one soon.
    So, another manic day at work with very little spare time to do anything at all. I stayed until half past four working hard then came home to get other stuff done. It's good in terms of not spending money, but not great in terms of my work life balance.
    I have managed to:
    * PAD a small amount to the emergency fund
    * check banking
    * 15 mins housework and declutter
    * exercise for free at my friend's class
    * packed lunches
    * all meals from stores
    * NSD
    * 75p roadkill found
    * Finally finished reading my book (unsure whether to start another one or what)
    * post letter re car accident in July to solicitor
    * find out info about school admissions for next year. Good job I did that today - the first open evening is tomorrow

    Horray! That was quick :) you must have made them feel right at home.
    So the story I watched was about dogs who are 'suspected' to be Pitt bull. I know yours isn't. But just seeing the sadness of the owners reminded me of your recent loss. Apparently the police have seized 3000 dogs in this country to be on the safe side. And have held some of them up to 3 years so far...
