    Morning!

I've been pottering, mostly in the garage room. Ive filled an old suitcase with things for CS so my basket is empty, and I've put the thermal kitchen and door curtains back up so my comfy chair is now empty too. I've sorted two rows of pegs which were a bit of a dumping ground - one side now holds bike hats and school bags, and the other has outdoor pe stuff and tomorrow's uniform ready to go.

I've even ironed 3 things that needed and put the iron and board away (only been out since a week before our holiday).

Still quite cluttered in here but feels lighter and brighter. Won't be working in here until Wednesday but I won't really have chance to sort it other than today. I've got a halogen oven and an air-fryer that I need to make a decision about...

DS is in a grump and has been all weekend. Expect it's just tiredness, he says nothing is bothering him. DD has announced she wants to be a mermaid - a real one - and change her name to Sparkle Spots.

    Loony bin, anyone?

    ^ ^ ^ Wot she said.

OH has just put on a dark load which we might manage to get pegged out and dry before the 48 hours of torrential rain due in arrives. The chalet cushions are coming on, which is interesting because half way through the third one I almost binned the whole lot while calculating how quickly I could dismantle the chair frames and drag the whole lot to the tip before scouring the second hand shops for a couple of replacements. I'm really glad I didn't because while I was buying this fabric to finish them, I realized what they needed was to be wrapped in wadding first. The difference is amazing. Very chuffed. I love, love, love teaching myself how to do stuff from You Tube. I'm going to skip the piping, though. That's one step too far at this stage and no-one will notice, anyway.

Wow...we have a fantastic stall on the market (they use about 6 trestles across two market rows) which sells fabric. Saw the exact same one on there yesterday while trying to source something for DD's headboard, which is a foam pad which we recover. (Built in bed so cannot have a 'proper' headboard). I saw a rather gorgeous striped ticking-style one. I like ticking. Just need to show it DD before I buy half a metre.

I have that much to do I am overwhelmed. Dining room is desperate. But so is the garden. It's sunny; I could plant out my strawberries then they would get well-established.

And I am making Sunday dinner as it's the last Sunday they're home:( although they are both at work right now. I was given some apples and I made crumble mix earlier. I was given some frozen gooseberries which I jammed last night.

but I seem to have come to complete stop...

Finally showered and dressed. Just made some wraps for the kiddies, and soup for me. Joint of beef is in the slow cooker for later.

I've sort of stopped, too, Valli and not quite sure where to go next. Needs to be the spare room, really. Actually, I might sort my work bag first. I have a pile of stuff for the confidential waste bin.

Looking at the garage counter now and it's piled high with tat but I can't get to it, nor do I have the time...

Yes, think I'll finish my soup, sort the laptop bag then head upstairs until shopping arrives. We might pop to arg0s later too...

Well I have got off my backside and had a mini-sort in the shed (ie cleared the doorway so I can get in); cleaned out the rabbit hutch which is now (I hope) drying off, stuck something-for-sale (a cat bed) in the washer as I'm doing a table top sale in October, picked up, bagged and binned cat poo in the garden, and decided that I need to pick up some cardboard boxes for next weekend. Once the Vallikids have gone stuff-for-sale will be relocated to DS's room where I can sort it and price it. DS said he would help with the hedge so I have put the trimmer by the shed door.

  • It is a beautiful day and I have every towel in the house washed in a good hot wash and out on the line. Bedding is in the washing machine.

Have the whole day to myself - bliss - so am just pottering about the house, mainly returning migrating items to their place of origin nd doing some dusting and vacuuming - hopefully will make flying a little less turbulent next week!!

Think it is time to bite the bullet and put the summer duvet away.
  • Oops - just scolded neighbours dog for barking - it's a few gardens away, but think neighbour was home. He pointedly cleared this throat!!

But in my defence the dog barks all day and all night! It's very annoying. Can't sleep with windows open anymore.

have prepped all the veg for dinner and cooked the apples for the bottom of the crumble. There is more then I need; so it might be frozen or I just might have stewed apple for pudding one evening. The apples are in the dish; I'll assemble the crumble just before it goes in the oven, to reduce sogginess.

I've spent a few hours in the garden, much better but as always there is more to do.

Stopping now to walk the dogs, do the hoovering/mopping through then get in the bath, before the evening routine starts.
Spend less now, work less later.

3 loads drying on the whirley

I have been mucking out the boys' stable whilst ds1 was at work. I have sorted the medicine cupboard and have removed all ds1's stuff.
Plan is to pack his clothes tomorrow. He just seems to be bothered about his new laptop.
    Ironing is done.
