    I've been Money Tipped!
Colleague has just got back from the Vietnam/Cambodia Wendy Wu trip. She loved it.

As I've travelled independently in these areas, I urged her to go alone as it was so easy to do, but she wanted the human company of the same faces for 2 weeks, and to not have to bother about sorting everything out and researching as it was her first time in Asia.

She recognised she didn't see as much of the countries as I did in my longer trips, but she saw enough to give her the flavour she wanted.

So a Wendy Wu recommendation here.
Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I second what doshwater said. 4 years ago me and a friend fell out within a month so I spent 2 weeks travelling alone but never really felt alone as many were doing the same route (bumped into some a few times in the end and hung out with one group for the day)

Even better when you meet people doing the your route in the opposite direction so you can swap warnings, tips and stories.

I'm a solo traveller too, albeit with the Mrs tagging along.
It' so easy to do your own thing, set a pace that suits you, see the things that you want to see, mic with like-minded people, and share notes

In Vietnam at the moment, final day of 5 in Dalat to be precise. Started in Saigon for a couple of nights, and then flew [pre-booked weeks ago] to Dalat.
    Tomorrow we fly to Danang
Already met and chatted to several people and taken onboard some useful tips.
Vietnam is a beautiful countrty, but don' try to do too much too quickly, as more = less.

Good to hear that the trip is going well so far. How are you getting on with that cheap Vietnamese beer?

My experience was that however much I could manage to drink I still felt fine the next day as it wasn't strong enough to give me a hangover. Unfortunately the same can't be said of the rice wine :(.

Haven't had any of the really cheap stuff [yet!] that needs to be supped the same day as it's brewed.

Bia Saigon, 450ml @ 4.3%, cheapest was in Saigon @ 4,000 dong [25p] a bottle. Here in Dalat 33p a bottle. Very nice too.
  • Rice wine is the worst!

    I would recommend Archers
    Mortgage 1: May 2012 £90,000 April 2020: £47,000
    Mortgage 2: £270,000😱 Jan 2019 £253,000 April 2020

Thai "whisky" has to be the worst thing I have ever drank on my travels.
  • We have had three holidays with Archers Direct, all good. Good mix of couples and singles that all get on ok and mix , also good mix of nationalities probably 60% uk
  • I went as a solo traveller on a tour round Egypt (a few years ago) with this company: http://www.imaginative-traveller.com/

It was very well organised and like shrimper1, the group was a good mix of nationalities / couples and singles. I'd definitely go with them again, to a different destination.
