    A valid point Bob, you might save Princess some money there. :D However, the Consumer Credit (Early Settlement) Regulations 2004 allow lenders to charge up to 58 days interest in the event that a customer decides to repay their loan in full early. If Princess is nearing the end of her loan term it may cost the same to pay it off now as in a few weeks! Any charges would be shown in the early settlement quote. Also some lenders charge a fee for early settlement which sometimes makes it not worth repaying early if you've only a wee bit left to pay.

    I had heard that I think. In my case I paid off chunks. Each time I did I asked them how much interest I'd saved and they wrote to me with the figures. I had a choice of keeping the term the same but dropping the payments. So I kept the payments the same and reduced the term by 4 years.

  • Good afternoon everyone.
    Sorry I didn't have time to check in this morning, but I really did just sit on my backside with a few cups of tea, catching up with GBBO on iPlayer while everyone else stayed in bed until after 10am. It was wonderful, and very relaxing just to wind down doing something for me and not worrying about stuff.
    Yorkshirelass - I go through phases of being ok with all my money going to debt (like at the moment), but then I do go through phases of wanting to do something lovely and extravagant and expensive. There are still things I want to do when I'm DF to give me more time... but I don't know how I will feel when the day arrives. There are also days when I want to keep up with the Joneses buying iPads and brand new cars etc. I get it though, I really do.
    Ziggy - I hope that you are doing ok, whatever you're up to.
    So, a list of things I have done today.
    :j Checked TCB and found that I had £15.25 waiting to pay out - so guess where that has gone?
    :j Paid off the CC - less than a month after I got it. Must update my signature.
    :j tutoring
    :j batch cooked a load of meals ready for next week
    :j load of washing done and out on the line to dry
    :j 15 mins housework and declutter
    :j relaxed and watched some TV
    :j haven't done this yet, but I'm planning a soak in the bath with my book later
    :j packed lunch prep for me and DD for tomorrow
    :j lsd - I needed to buy potatoes and bread buns so went to L1dl for those
    Right, I am off to update my signature and be all proud of myself.:money::money:

    Today for me has turned into a disaster, DS went to our local shops and bought bits from here and there, then OH met us and brought us home after he'd finished work and it went downhill from there ... had to use my heart spray and have spent the afternoon in bed with aching chest, arms, head. Have now got up and persuaded DH and DS to go to party while I lay on sofa. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

    Night all x

    Well, after a shocking night - I just couldn't settle and whichever way I laid it was agony - spent the day in A&E

    Good news - not another heart attack and no sign of a blood clot
    Bad news - damaged muscles in heart and chest area - so have to have at least 2 weeks complete rest - so no aqua or physio

    Thank you for all your love and best wishes, it really means a lot

  • Hi everyone :waves:

    Beautiful day here today and I don't know if it was that but it spurred me into action:
    Tidied out garage, pile for tip, 3 items on local faceb00k, 1 sold, will bump other two in a minute
    DH fixed housing for integral WM so it now fits properly
    Took out broken TD left it outside on drive, someone will take it :rotfl:
    Mowed both lawns and picked all the rhubarb and baked it ready for freezing
    Weeded lots
    Used DM hedge trimmer to cut down loads of shrubbery ready for autumn was cordless and she had already charged battery
    Used a MOC in Mr s and wombled 2 more receipts and a 2p coupon, also loads of YS stuff
    Filled car up with fuel work pays for
    Filled up washer fluid in car
    Bbq with freezer stock as it was so sunny

    And the best bit... Plans for our extension arrived :j:j it's not going to make us DF anytime soon but it will substantially add to value of home :T

    Enjoy your evening :D

    Ziggy, take care lovely lady :grouphug:
  • Hope you are on the mend soon ziggy, sounds nasty.

    Thanks for the wise words everyone. Of course back in the days when I was earning a lot of money I was often working 50 hour weeks and was expected to have the company mobile on 24/7. Would I really want to go back to that? And even then with a good income it wasn't enough and we were somehow racking up debts.

    I have to learn to enjoy the life I have, not constantly wish for things that can't be. This is something I need to work on I think.

    I think we all find our own level of frugal lifestyle. We can all find our own happy simple life. At the very beginning I cut out everything and then so far into my debt Journey as I changed my habits I actually found I could do more things. Its just I looked at things different. I plan things more (cheapest way to get there, pre-brought snacks/meals) and check on Facebook for deals/free days entrance etc. When I desire something, I tend to A) see if I can get it second-hand on selling pages or make myself a goal to sell things/earn extra income to achieve the said amount. I also found giving myself diy projects etc around the house helped me as it gave me something to do and something to be proud of when I completed each thing.

    Hope you're feeling a lot better soon. I can really relate to what your saying and hope it passes soon.
    Princess
    When I was paying my loan, there was a final settlement fee if you paid off in full. However if you paid say 90% and allowed enough for the last payment still to go out via direct debit you didn't get charged this.

    Well a very late post for me today. I did a extra 3 hours at the nightclub last and ended up getting home at 4.30 as I decided to wait for a free lift and free staff pizza (and drink) I knew the little ones were getting dropped early today but didn't expect it to be 6am :-| Oh well

    Little things for me today were

    *charge phone at work
    * free drinks at work
    * 10p Roadkill
    * All meals from stock
    * Donate £10 (not money saving, but wanted to give a little something this week)
    * Free childcare off darling sister
    * Lights/plugs off when not in use
    * Picked some onions/herbs from garden
    * Sent through availability and overtime to office

    Think that's all, night everyone
