Woohoo, that's great news JoJo
My list for the weekend:
Run today and tomorrow (done today's already)
Meals from stores, although we may treat tomorrow and go out for breakfast. It'll mean we won't need lunch and I can use my staff discount. Will, see what time we get up first :rotfl:
Wishing on tonight, weather seems set fair tomorrow to dry it so it's not lingering round the house
Upload receipts to COS
Download 1poll app ( have account just haven't used it for ages)
Investigate PAD thread, used before and agree it does work well.
Some decorating possibly tomorrow
Think that's all for now0 -

Hello Again all
Kayannie - that is brilliant. I found a tenner this year as well. It's a magical moment isn't it seeing one in the wild and jumping to grab it. Mine was wet stuck to a fence where the wind had obviously slapped it. I have found a fiver this year too. So by my reckoning a £20 is next
Well today didn't go strictly to plan. The only time I've used public transport in months, & the tube was closed. So we ended up on a rail replacement bus which took an age and still didn't deliver us where we needed to be. Little man missed the first 30 mins of his party but thankfully they hadn't started the activity when we arrived.
I found a bike jacket. Went for a high vis ultra light weight for £12. It's not a real winter coat but figure what's the point buying a coat that will only fit for another month. So one for after.
I also treated myself to 3 new tops in Mr T for £17 in total. I have recycled both my old coat and 3 old tops to make room for the new ones. I had holes in mine. So necessary spends only.
Have cleaned the upstairs bathroom and downstairs loo. Then OH helped me remake the beds and I swept the floors whilst he did that.
Also tackled one drawer in the kitchen that had gone a bit crazy with all my kept envelopes to write lists on. So that is now looking lovely and neat.
Have done 2 loads of washing so far today but will have to use the tumble with this weather.
Anyway so that's my update

Afternoon all,
Thanks for the start Bob.
Congratulations on being debt free JOJO!!
Today's been a spendy day but it was mostly planned spendsWent to designer outlet to get kids feet measured for school shoes, ds2 got a pair of trainers for school cost £19.99 reduced from £30 & Ds1 didn't find any he liked so he's decided to keep using the ones we got for the summer from primark for a while longer.
Popped into Gap and picked up a nice hoodie for ds1, he's had a grow and we've looked for a hoodie for winter for him in mr t & mr A and not found anything that fits quite right, 8-9 too small and 10-11 drowns him. Got a really nice one that fits lovely with growing room but not drowning him across the shoulders. As we paid we were given a voucher for 15% off next weekend, so may pop back and pick up another one and wrap it for his birthday at the beginning of Oct
I picked up a fleece cardie in M&S outlet for £6.50 (used giftcard that dh got from work which inc a 9% discount) this was a needed spend as my jumpers are all looking really tatty now.
:(Was drawn into Thorntons by free samples and spent £6 (whoops not good for the bank balance or the waist line) ( left my cc in the card reader, thank god we went to the next shop otherwise I wouldn't have realised until next week, and its only a month since I lost the last cc!! )/:) DH wanted to have a look in whittards, and somehow we came out with 4 tubs of hot chocolate, 2 white hot choc, 1 milk chocolate & 1 Amaretto choc) This wasn't planned but at least it meant I realised I'd lost cc!)
Family had gathered at ours for lunch (but we were late back picking up dh's prescription - hes still not feeling well from the beginning of the week and went to the drs last night, they've given him anti b for an infection but also sending him for blood tests) anyway my dad cooked the ys burgers/ys sausages & my mum prepped the salad so lunch was ready when we got back
Watching my niece this afternoon whilst my sis is at work so we've watched a film off netf!ix, was nice to watch something none of us had seen for a change. Now Despicable 2 is on and there all happy watching that having a picnic in front of the tv.
Dh & I will continue watching hustle off amaz0n prime tonight when the kids go to bed
(can't believe we stuck with paying sky so much money for so many years!)
That's it for now
Have a lovely weekend all.0 -
Ally, I recommend this website https://www.luckyphone.co.uk/ its a free daily lottery a bit like fpl, but you earn points that can convert into a bacs/paypal payment. I know this works as my sis won £10 on one of the draws, and I have claimed a £10 bacs payment that hit my acc within 2hrs of claiming. Theres been lots of winners on the Make £10 a day thread on here also. This is a referral thread on mse https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/52555900

Hi all
Congratulations JoJo, keeps us all motivated knowing that others have succeeded!
August has been a very spendy month and I didnt really factor in how much the school hols were going to cost. So deep breath and on with a very tight September!
I really needed to do some food shopping today but couldnt be bothered so I made a plate pie with some leftover stew out of the freezer and a crumble with some of our own apples.
Washing out on the line (sunny and breezy here), lovely long dog walk this aft, bit of tidying and dusting. Finance spreadsheets done.
Oh and Mum came over because she wants an outfit for a dinner they are going to. Had great fun shopping on the internet with her, especially as it wasnt my money I was spending.
Might curl up with my library book and indulge in a little of the wine that I won in a raffle. I am not much of a drinker (and we cant really afford it anyway) so it will be a nice treat.0 -

Evening Frugalistas,
Do you know, I have only just got my bum in a chair? A bit late in the day, but thought I'd still post, as am going AWOL for a bit soon.
Today's money saving activity:
*Paid in a small cheque owed to us by friend. Withdrew it as cash & paid it into the correct Savings Piggy,
*Checked online banking as had a couple of little transactions to add. Budget now straight.
*Tweaked September grocery budget slightly by allowing an additional £10. Not intentional, but had done so many tiny swaps & stuff (only adding up to about £10) that I got my brain in a knot & decided I'd spent more than £10's worth of my time & energy trying to sort it out. Much easier to allow an extra £10 & adjust accounting accordingly.
*Picked & froze blackberries, 3.5lbs tomatoes, & another bag of sliced & blanched runner beans.
*Picked 3 bunches of grapes.
*Made a hefty picnic for tomorrow. Putting tents up turns mr f into a ravenous eating monster.Put flask out to remind us to make flask of coffee too.
*Put a colour on my shabby roots. Only wanted to do roots, so just made up half a quantity of dye, so as to get 2 applications from 1 box of colour.
*Baked a cake & a tin of biscuits to take on camping trip. Helps keep us out of coffee shops.
*Checked bank account to see if mr f's Onepoll £40 had arrived yet. Nope!
*Did a final little online project for a brand forum I'm on at the moment - I've now done enough for a guaranteed £5 voucher, plus 2 further projects which will get me into the prize draws. I've done quite well on it....especially considering I'm often spectacularly snotty about the products ;-)
*Dropped off a big bag at the charity shop this morning - not money saving, but it's a pile of stuff that's sat around too long, & it was great to declutter it.
*Went in 'Accessorize'. Went out again. What a result. I love all the little bits of stuff in there, but I don't really need anything & 'just looking' can so easily turn into 'I need one of these' or 'Wouldn't my hair look great with this clip'......actually, I did think that, but then remembered I had my long hair cut off last Tues, so clip would have been useless!
*mr f watered veggie garden & greenhouse. Some crops have finished now, others are still producing so we're trying to keep up the maintenance.
*Finally finished the lipstick I'd been scraping out with a lip brush. Started a new one - a nice FREE one, which was in a mixed bag of cosmetics & toiletries raffle prize. (Boots No. 7, fab colour).
mr f's cooking night tonight & he's cooking some of the excess meat he bought for that BBQ recently & using up leftover marinade. It's smelling gorgeous. I'm going to see if there's any Toluna surveys then have a lazy evening as have been busy all day.
Have a lovely weekend, Frugal Friends,

Bob - I'm getting quite interested in the concept of PAD. We're still debt-free (apart from mortgage, of course!) but we will need to borrow some money in about 17 months to buy a new car. The idea is that we save as much as possible in the meantime to reduce the amount we need to borrow as significantly as possible. I save £50 a month automatically into our emergency fund, I've set up Savings Piggies (6 envelopes on which I've stuck shiny pink piggies!) to cover various different areas of expenditure and this year, as per my signature, I started just transferring little spare bits of money, survey money, bits & bobs of ebay sales, etc, into a savings towards a car, to see how much additional money I could manage to save from all these small sources this year. I've been thinking that PAD could be useful for me to up my game on the car savings front. I'm assuming it can be anything extra.....i.e checking my online banking & rounding down to nearest whole figure by paying the little odd bit across to savings, etc. I'm getting good at cashing my Toluna points for Sainsbury's gift cards (£15 a time), using them instead of grocery budget cash, then paying the £15 saved across. I guess it's all these little sorts of things, but aiming to put something in each day. I'm a firm believer in all those small things adding up, as are all of us on here. Will give it some more thought. Think this could motivate me to save more.
Great to see your debt coming down, by the way, Missis!
