I was meant to be going on a bike ride with my friend tomorrow however she's just called to say that she has free tickets to Silverstone including hospitality for this weekend! So that will be something different and I wont spend anything other than some fuel split between us!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
Confession time, just spent £10 on lunch, but it was so worth it.

Evening All
The heating going on is an interesting one. Last year I made it to December 1st before we gave in. But this year, it is already quite nippy! We've been walking round the house like mummies with our sofa blankets draped, for the past few nightsMaybe Dawns DGD has the right idea
Ally - I cannot believe you had a dealer turn up to collect your kindly offered lamp. That is fifty shades of wrongness right there.
Dawn -That woman sounds incredibly rude. You cant believe the nerve of some people!
Believe it or not, I had an incredibly well heeled lady buy lunch once at the cafe, then ask for a cup full of boiling water. A lot of places would have said no, but I thought what the heck, its barely costing me anything, so supplied it, thinking she just wanted to drink it. When I went to pack up, I noticed she'd brought her own fruit tea bag into the cafe with her! Now maybe in starbucks or somewhere massive that would be ok, but hello, small indie struggling to make a living! Honestly.....
I have done all the usuals today, made 25p off shoptize for loading a milk recipt, tantilisingly close to the payout limit now (50p to go)
Loaded 2 reciepts into COS/QuickSnap for the 2 x 1p
Walked/Cycled the school run
Made a £9 PAD
Checked banking & reconcilled to my App.
Think thats it
See you tommorow

Foxgloves and Bob - thank you for the bathroom advice earlier this week. We've had another guy out to do a quote (awaiting cost) who seemed far more amenable to us sourcing our own stuff, but checking out prices with him first to see if he can get it cheaper with trade. We'll have to crunch some numbers this weekend.
Its always good to work with trades that are on your side as it were. Of course they are trying to make a living, but the good ones will give a fair cost for a good job, & not try & rinse you in the process." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

While we're admitting our DFW-style 'sins':
My wonderful OH has been on kitchen duty all week. I usually wipe out the fridge at weekends.
I've just opened the fridge and been met by a heavy stench of Eau de Gone-off-something. It seems the presence of some gone off mozarella and some rancid beef had accidentally escaped her notice in the chaos that has been this week. Caused me to pull a face like this one. Fridge-mageddon.
<<<<<<<
Wiped out the fridge with some own-brand-Milton and hot water and left some lemon juice in there. I'd use bicarb but we're short of that. Hopefully that's fixed it; if not I may have to resort to dynamite.
Oops.

Afternoon all.
I feel everyone's pain on freegle, fleabay etc... One reason why I haven't summed up the energy to sell on them recently. Instead of people being happy with a bargain they seem to want something for nothing or just mess you around. Last Christmas I sold some clear baubles on ebay. Seller messaged me a spend asked if she could collect. She won it, we arranged a time. She didn't show, I messaged her. No reply. Messaged her again, she said my communication was poor and she had gone elsewhere  I obviously have different standards :rotfl:
Anyway, gets off soap box. Today's list:
Run
WFH - all meals from stores. Including YS burgers for tea.
Kind friend gave me a ticket for Sealife that she couldn't use for today. DH and DD2 went, parked at my work for free. She doesn't want any money but I'll give her a free product from my business as a thank you
Renew green bin, pay by DD to save £9 than we usually pay
Pop to Mr s after tea as DD school have announced they need pe kit by Monday that they said before we didn't need  should be less busy than tomorrow or Sunday. Can take back a product as a swap to reduce cost
Make a list of 'admin' things to do over the next week
2 Loads washing dry outside, another one overnight tonight
dw already set for cheap leccy later.
Inspired by the earlier porridge talk, here's my cold version. 100g of oats, 125ml cold water, 125ml apple juice. Mix and smack overnight in fridge. 1/3rd is enough for me mix with 2 spoons yogurt and some fruit - ideally grated apple fir a Bircher thing but banana, strawberry (basically whatever's due to expire first :rotfl:) works equally as well. A few chopped nuts/ flaked almonds for added texture are nice too
Enough for 3 days breakfast and works out to pennies. Although if weather stays like this will have to revert to hot version. Girls are already there :T0 -

Love this. Have had a sneaky peak and it looks like our kind of thread. My Father used to say , live with elegant economy. Classic phrase.
Sadly I have to be mean and stingy as our farm is about to go through serious tricky times. So all hands to the pump to save the mother ship. Tally ho!0 -
Hello!
I just couldn't get up this morning. It's only week 1 and I have another 7 to go until half term. My alarm went off at half six and I felt like my eyes were stuck together. But I'm here now and better late than never.
I'm a little bit surprised reading about rude freeglers, companies pre-authorising money and eBay whingers. I can't honestly believe that some people behave like that. Well - I can but I'm always surprised that people just can't seem to be reasonable.
Even though it's been a busy week at work I have managed to stick with the small things.
o Check banking
o Got spare quilts and blankets out as it's not starting to get a little bit chilly on Wearside. Dark by 8pm now
o Fortnightly shop at Mr T came in at just over £90 - with cashback claimed on Shopititze and COS - all cleaning and toiletries replenished as well
o Did all my work at work so I didn't have to bring any home
o Packed lunch for me and DD
o All meals from stores
o 15 mins housework and declutter
o check o/s balances for DMP. I got an email from Stepchange telling me I needed to do this now that I'm so close to the end of my DMP :TNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning All
Ziggy - jeez how rude. I hope your OH gave him what for?
Well. I've woken feeling positive and full of energy. I actually have a full weekend off to look forward to having worked 6 days last week, & I think that is making me feel excited and good enough to get through this last 6 hour shift.
I have been getting lots of enquiries about parties which is a good sign. And will be opening one full weekend in a few weeks as it's a local art festival and we are a venue. I am hoping to take enough that weekend to help pay October's shop rent, the last of 2015!!! And tide me over for a rest period when the baby arrives. So that will mean working 2 straight weeks. All the more reason to treasure this weekend!
So what have we got on. Well. Son is going to his first birthday party of the school year. It's a bowling party at a local leisure park. He has only been once before and absolutely loved it. So we will be taking him there for the morning. Huge treat for him and I'm so happy.
In the meantime I want to pop into the large sports warehouse nearby and get myself a bright coloured shower proof cycling jacket. My old North Face coat is 7 years plus old and leaks at the cuffs and shoulders so is just no good in this current climate. Plus it's black. And i need to be more visible on the roads going into Autumn.
There is also a lovely library in the same area with a cafe so me and OH may go there and hang out for the rest of the party period.
Today I will be looking for other ways to make a PAD. I found a £1.65 brand match last night when I went wombling. So I took that off my shopping. Might do that off the CC.
Not so much a list as a ramble this morning DFWs
Bob
