Eon Energy

I finally after much deliberation i took the plunge and joined Eon through the cheap energy club . I needed to ring Eon and was pleasantly surprised at the friendliness of the agent who answered my questions fully and even rang me back later with further information, so far so good
Only gripe is that I had to resort to a on line site to find out a contact telephone number for Eon0 -
Morning Coedy,
No problem,
I think it sounds like you have a variable Direct Debit set up currently.
first of all, if you'd like to switch you're doing the right thing by having a look around and MSE is a great place to do this, try and use your usage in kWh when doing comparisons.
If you do decide to switch to us via the collective switch, you can apply through the cheap energy club and the supply will be taken over by us. We'll open your account to meter reads we ask you to provide, we'll then send these same reads to old supplier to produce your final bill, so no overlapping.
We have many different ways to pay.
With E.ON you can have an online account, pop your reads in each month and produce a real time bill, so you can see exact usage and how much you owe, you can then make a payment.
If you set up a Variable Direct Debit, we'd collect the amount owing from your bank account each time you produce a bill.
I hope this helps a little.
Helena
I too have switched over to EON (My first ever switch!) with the CEC.
It says it will be £242 a year cheaper than BG's standard tariff! :j
Meaning £61 a month payment. But on British gas we were paying £30-50 in summer and £130-150 in winter (adjustable pay on recipt of bill)... So it must be a hell of a lot cheaper! (yes, I did put in the figure off my annual summary).
So, a question:::
I am guessing if I input monthly readings and choose to create a monthly bill from these figures the DD will adjust itself accordingly if it has set itself too low? (Which is my massive worry at the moment looking at the savings:o)0 -

AFAIK E.On do not adjust the DD amount every month, even if you provide readings. They will only do it every quarter or six monthly. If you entered your annual kWh usage (not cost) into the CEC site, then the calculated figure provided for cost should be pretty accurate - so long as your usage remains the same as the previous year.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. But were you on BG's (most expensive) standard tariff before? If not the "savings" have little meaning.

We were on the 'Worst' one as far as we were aware as we also weren't getting a DD discount because we were paying on receipt of the bill (but we were getting the paperless billing discount). We just phoned them when we got the house and they set us up on a standard tariff with paperless with pay on receipt. I guess we will need to just hang on and see what happens!
We did change 12 GU10 50w bulbs to LEDs (4w I think?) in January so in theory those savings aren't on that calculation but we will soon find out!0 -
