This makes no sense at all. Giffgaff don't force people to buy goodybags, you buy them if they're better value for the amount you expect to use, if not you can use plain old pay as you go.

Yes, but they are still charging 10 or 16 or 20 pence a minute for calls where the wholesale rate to them is 0.3 and 0.7 to 1.0 pence a minute.

As rates have dropped, as things have become more competitive, as monthly bundles have become larger, they could also have reduced the outside bundle rate.

You don't have to agree with that, but it was a fair viewpoint, not something that just didn't make sense.

I wish giffgaff would just axe goodybags and just charge a fair price per minute and per megabyte (like Three's 3-2-1). They could still do volume discounts by reducing the price as you use more in a month, but having to pay in full for allowances that you don't fully use is absurd. The precedent of other networks doing the same is no justification.

If Three's 3-2-1 tariff is cheaper for your circumstances then switch to Three!

You mean they charge less than some of the big providers

EE charge 30p/min on PAYG to mobile & landline

I've been with GG on and off for 7 years or so and overall I'm happy.

Their support is either via the forums (which can be crap) or via contacting an AGENT through your account - which is far batter.

They do have a tendency to ask for the 'community's' input, but then do exactly what they wanted in the first place, same as any big company.

It's worth noting though that if your allowance runs out you can simply start your next goodybag early, thus negating the issue of high costs outside of your monthly bundle.

As they are a reseller of O2's network they are a little later in the queue when it comes to technical / network faults but this has only caused me an issue once in all the time I've been with them.

They're the cheapest way of getting the O2 network (which is best for my location).

It's not so much about Three's tariff, but that Three (in common with all networks' corporate tariffs) charges only for consumption actually consumed. That's the way it should be for all networks.

Anyway Three's coverage isn't very good. They don't even cover the Channel Tunnel unlike the other three UK networks.

    In your opinion.

I'd rather pay £12 per month knowing I have just the right amount of data, and that I don't have to worry abut how many texts or minutes I am using as there is ample for my needs.

I much prefer that to fluctuating costs from a Three style tariff.

I haven't been with giffgaff very long after the nightmare that was vodafone but I'm impressed so far. Very simple and straightforward so I doubt much can go wrong.

I think their new 4g price plans are more than reasonable and the £12 per month goodybag suits me perfectly!

It will be intereting to see what happens when the sale of Telefonica SA UK "O2" business to Three (HKG) is finally approved. Giffgaff is wholly owned by Telefonica UK (AKA O2) so once the sale goes though it will be owned by Three (HKG).

Maybe the recent price changes are about driving up profit to make a survival case to its new owner.

Yes I hear that migrants are looking at legal action as the lack of phone service in the chunnel whilst in lorries and on train roofs has breached their human rights. :rotfl::rotfl:
  • it would of cost me an extra £5 a month to stay with giffgaff - so i moved to vectone and now £5 a month better off - paying £10 instead of £20
:j if my house aint clean enough for you tough
