I'm afraid of shifting less we loose Internet entirely. We're a connected household with teenagers - no broadband feels like no oxygen!
  • less than half meg/s due to line, BT wont even offer broadband

Very poor speed in my area so stick with Sky where I know I can at least get a service all be it a poor one, also fear of interruption or loss of service during switch over period.
    Better the devil you know.

Companies that don't offer a static IP

Companies with draconian fair usage policies, or throttling
  • My broadband speed is at BEST 0.5- 0.75mbps (when it works)... No really!
The ONLY option I have is via BT as my local exchange (Letham) is 'Locked' so ONLY BT have access. I'm 7km from the exchange and have been told I will never get fibre to our house! They are 'working on alternative solutions' but no-one can actually tell me what they are!

I would love to switch However as BT put it.. 'You do have a choice... stay with us... or we can cut you off.. it makes no difference to us'

    Nice eh!!!
I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

Better to be approximately right than precisely wrong.

I am with BT and live in a rural area with overhead phone and electricity lines. We are supposed to get 6mg but usually get between 1.5 - 3.5.
My problem about changing is no matter who I go with the line is the same and its Openreach who maintain it. I believe they are part of BT so I feel nothing would change.
Bt constantly try to get us to take Infinity which I would do if I could get the speed they talk about. What if I don't - it seems you cant cancel as they only have to provide 10% of customers with the top speed to I feel I would be paying them more cash for very little.
  • I was with Sky for years but moved to EE 2 years ago to save a few pennies. Immediately realised how shockingly awful EE were (speed, service, call centre line queues, data throttling at peak times etc) and swiftly changed back to Sky and now I dare not change to anyone else after the hassle I went through. I'm happy with Sky, even if they block loads of websites but where there is a will there is a way and I've just got smarter because of it that I'm practically unofficial IT support at work now.
  • My broadband comes as part of a bundle including landline, mobile, gas & electricity, plus a cashback card giving me up to 7% on purchases. The deal is almost unbeatable. The speed is fast enough for my needs - paying more for a faster speed would be pointless. My provider is Utility Warehouse.
