Flights to Hong Kong

I need to book some flights as a surprise for my OH beginning of Apr to Hong Kong.

The cheapest are coming up direct at the moment around £750 with Cathay Pacific.

Does anybody know if these are likely to drop at any particular time of if the above is a good price or not? Would prefer direct I think.

I have not booked long haul for a long time so out of touch with prices etc.

Many thanks

xx

Are you a bit flexible with dates? If so I would wait for BA's Xmas sale to book.
  • Thanks for replying, no unfortunately the dates are fixed, something to do with Rugby I think, he will be meeting friends.

    What are the dates?

Cathay are always going to be the most expensive direct. |It's usually Virgin, BA, Cathay in price order.

Indirect from half the price. As little as £330.
  • Dates are 4th - 11th April, flights from north airports if possible.

    Thanks again

What is a "north airport"? There are no direct flights from northern airports.
  • That would be everything above Heathrow then lol
  • Cathay Pacific was flying from Manchester if I remember.

Just looked at BA and the flights were LHR. The Virgin flights said not available.

Is it still the earlier you book the cheaper it is and the prices rise as they become booked up or was that a myth:D

Then CX is your only option if wanting to fly direct from Manchester airport. It's possible that Cathay Pacific might have a sale at some point, but because it's a popular sporting event, I wouldn't depend on it. On the other hand, there will likely be indirect options available. So if CX don't play nicely, you at least will have that option.

    That is largely a myth.
