Now folks - last year we had Summer in April, this year it was in May. You can't expect Summer to last for 4-5 months now can you?

4 or 5 days would be nice though.

    Hi Trow

What are the property prices like up there, and employment?

It is very dark, gloomy and rainy and I too am having a bit of a reality check re energy costs. It is fairly easy to say what we will be doing when the weather is bright but the actual fact is that we all want to put the lights on and give a blast of central heating and we bloomin well can`t because of the awful rising costs. Heck it looks as though it is going to be an awfully long winter.

All we need now are those adds on tv about what to do in a flood and the helpline number and we`ll know that some poor souls are going to be flooded in a few weeks

I live on the Wirral, and I didn't think that there would be any rain left for today, but there was. I am not putting the heating on in June, but ds (aged 3) keeps climbing on his step to put the lights on, and we have both worn what I would consider to be winter clothes today to keep warm.

Lol i can sympathise - i have two tubs of tumbling toms that keep looking at me through the kitchen window and im sure they are giving me the evil eye and the 'YOU did thsi to us!' look. The sunflower in the window seems to be happy enough though.

I know today im snuggled up in one of boyfriends long sleeved tps and trousers - jsut about to chuck a hoody and coat on to trundle off to town to get a few bits and bobs and little un is in a long sleeved top (with vest underneath) and is about to put a hoody and big winter coat on - think i might look out a scarf each too.

Also i agree - a week worth of sumemr would have been nice - we had like 3 days that we werent blasted by the wind but then again i suppose that could be down to living in a valley between two welsh mountains - im dreading the rainy season because we have alot fo mudslides (anyone remember the welsh couple on the news whos house was really damaged by a mud slide recently?) yeah i can SEE there house from my flat! so not good!!!
    Time to find me again

It's even been quite nippy down here in Kent and windy and raining.

    We're off to camber tomorrow.

Please can we have some sunshine so we can lie on the beach?

Can anything draught proofing or insulating be done with empty carrier bags ? I must have a million Asda bags here !

Someone posted that they used them for lagging under their kitchen sink, where a draft was coming in.
Otherwise take your bags to the supermarket and put them in the store recycling bin or get the delivery man to take them for recycling if you have your groceries delivered.

  • I use my carrier bags for fuelling the fire. I can't use fill it using the coal hod thing that hubby loves so much, so I just fill a carrier bag with coal from the bunker, and fling it straight in the fire. By the way, its a deep multi fuel stove that we've got, so it does take a bit of filling.
