For anyone planning on buying fleeces - be warned and buy 'em early as there is going to be a national shortage this winter - that lot on the "It's still tough and not getting any better..." thread are planning WEIRD stuff with them! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    :rotfl:

I decided I'm going to get some YakTrax after hearing postive things here - it feels so odd to order them in August but it makes sense I guess.

Another thing I must do is insulate the outside tap as the pipe burst last winter. I wonder could I do it with bubble wrap or should I just buy the proper foam stuff.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

it is freezing today. hubby and i had blankets on us last night while sat on sofa's. i can't believe this is summer.think we had our summer in apirl.may and june

we have said no point in having a holiday in the summer as we live on the isle of wight, surrounded by beaches. and in the summer time it best to make the most of all the beautfuil places we have around us. and enjoy this beatiful island as much as poss. now don't get me wrong i am a winter person. but next summer i'm so considering going away with family to somewhere just a tad bit warmer.

How sad am I? After reading these latest posts I want it to be cold so I can start snuggling the house up :D

We still have all our windows open etc and heard that it should be heating up again the next couple of weeks so summer is still here :j
There is no issue so small that it can't be blown out of proportion

    I love this thread!!!

Last year we were unprepared, had an awful time, snowed in and hubby ( who is self employed) couldnt work for 3 weeks.

The lost earnings, coupled with having to shop in the exorbintantly priced village shop and the fuel bills made for a miserable few months.

It will not beat me this year!!!!!!

Can anyone suggest a list of food staples to hoard now for the winter period should it happen again?

I have made a start at a list, but there is bound to be lots I have forgot?

Haha! I'm already tucked under a fleece rug cos it's been so chilly here. But I haven't given up on summer yet - I'm sure we'll have good weather eventually. :)
