Preparing for Winter

Because of you lot I've messed up my moneysaving. After prowling round the stand several times over the last week or two, I've succumbed to the Primark fleecy jamas. OH is going to be impressed, especially since one lot have little moo cows printed all over them. To be honest, if it gets any colder we will probably end up fighting for them.
I discovered them a few weeks ago and they are brill! got one of each design.
Not the sexiest of night wear was the comment from my DH:rolleyes:
Easily sorted said I, winter in the caribbean:j , keep on moneysaving was his reply!! oh well ...back to the pjs then.0 -

I always wear PJ's but have a rotten time finding any long enough..I have a 32" inside leg and most are like pedal pushers on me..no good for keeping warm!!:(0 -
I once had a HWB spring a small leak so I would recommend you use less than boiling water or you could be scalded badly. Thankfully I had used tap hot water to do mine, altho I must say I always use the kettle now.
I also let mine dry out. Never store with the stopper in and I store the stoppers in the cover so they don't get lost - have even managed to train Mr Frugal to do the same :T0 -
Thanks for the portiere rods information...bit pricey and by the time the money conversion was done would probably be double in euro...also the winter might be over before they got to me, will have to come up with something over next couple of weeks as we will have two small babies here for January and February. Have printed the pictures which should be a help...will show them to crafty son who might manage some kind of a substitute...he has all kinds of welders and stuff in his workshop so that might be fastest route.
Bought four heater things in Lidl yesterday...small but ideal for bed for small children...will make covers for them...less than a fiver for all four so something else for the stockings.
TAD...love the name and agree 100% on boiling water in hot water bottles...very dangerous. Does anyone else remember the stone ones which were the only ones available years ago...I have one but would not use it as it would surely hit the floor at some stage...no tucked in blankets nowadays to prevent that.
Thanks for all the good ideas for keeping out the cold...not sure if I will ever be able to afford heating oil again at the way prices are going, so plan on conserving what I have to spread it as far as possible

No it isn't the same hot water bottle and we did get all the air out, will not use boiling water in future thought.

I use a hot water bottle myself, and have done so for ages. i only have it in the bed for a few minutes (at the base of my feet) and it's amazing what a lovely warm feeling it gives you; makes so much difference. I still keep the top window open as i can't sleep in a humid environment, no matter how cold outside.BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!
