Weather here is cold, windy and wet, so the southwest of Scotland certainly isn't within the swathe of UK that's getting the Indian summer. Had to light the fire now. Hmph!

JCR maybe I should move to your little dot on the map? LOL

    Hi all

My winter prep is going well so far, despite having to watch the pennies. I've managed most of the things on my list:
    1. kingsize quilts (collected rom Argos 19/8)
    2. flannelette sheets
    3. tights (knee-highs 30/8)
    4. leather shoes/boots? (if current ones are too worn for repair as they a number of years old)
    5. fleeces for curtains (bought 30/8)
    6. long socks (as fleeces)
    7. pyjamas (as fleeces)
    8. candles
I might see if I can make a trip to Ikea to source the candles and have a look at their fleeces, even though they are a little more expensive than Primark. I'll have to leave the flannelette sheets for end September/early October when I get paid.

Is it me or has Primark gone up in price for some things? The pyjamas I bought today were a whole £1 more than the last time I bought some (about 2/3 years ago) :rotfl:

    Update:

I checked my boots and they are all in good nick so are ok for another winter. Not got the candles, flannelette sheets or, new to the list, quilt covers due to a serious lack of funds though. Will obtain before Christmas I'm sure :).

I pinned the fleeces to the back of the top curtains as I couldn't be bothered to take them down and do a proper job :o It might be me but I swear both the living and bedrooms are warmer as a result, even though all the windows in the flat are double glazed. Result - thermostat down by 1 degree and radiator controls tweaked downward also.

Of course the current mild weather could have skewed the outcome so I'll have to wait for a drop in temperature to be sure.

Update 2: I need to get some more SAD lightbulbs as the two in the living room show the difference between white light and yellow light. White light is much better for me.

Try moving to Scotland, that should solve your problem. :D

I would love to! But until family responsbilities change there is no chance! If I'm honest even a move 70+ miles further north would make me happy!!:D

That highlights the vast range of weather patterns we get here - I'm over in the southwest of Dumfries & Galloway region.
