I was thinking of getting some Asda smartprice fleece throws (about £2) and making them into curtain linings. My curtains have hooks shaped like ] with little rings on the bottom so I figure if I cut the fleece to size and stitch some heading tape along the top I can just hang them from the little rings behind the curtains using spiral type hooks?

Also I was thinking about curtain linings and was considering using the cheap ikea fleecy throws, would this work? Would be thicker than normal curtain lining.

I think it could work perfectly well. How about sewing some header tape on them, adding hooks & hanging them underneath the curtains? Does that make sense? I know what I mean. :o
You could then have the curtains with lining for winter & without for summer.

Pretty much what I was planning, doesn't sound like it's a completely crazy idea then.

How much are these Asda Smartprice fleeces?

It is always worth checking the small ads in papers as well as charity shops and gumtree as people often change their curtains (well my mum does!)

Really? I have never changed curtains, not even the nasty orange ones our landlord put in the lounge with the pink carpet... It's not that I am colour blind, I just don't care! I suppose it would be different if it was our own place, though that said it feels like our own as we have been here about 5 years now!

I don't change mine either, I bought nice ones ten years ago and will keep using them until they fall apart. I did have to replace the front door curtain last year It was one I made 24 years ago and the lining had started to shred and the cord was fading. It lasted longer than the marriage though :o

Fairly similar to the Ikea ones. We have an Ikea about 5 mins away whereas Asda is about 30 mins away so easier for me to go there. Also after yesterdays bargain bin success I think I might be tempted in through the crowds a bit more often.

My Mum is always changing her curtains, along with redecorating all the time, personally I couldn't be bothered with all the mess!
