when woke up this morning it was freezing. our house is always fairly warm but i couldn't get going i just wanted to stay in bed. Still no heating tho and i am going to try to keep it off to at least oct.
going to sort out the blankets today and put a blanket on each of kids beds and our bed if we get bit chilly at night.
i've got my big thick fleecey furry boots on today. i've got very nice warm feet. but i've realised my big fluffy ginger gorgeous cat also likes to snuggle my boots and now they are extra furry with the fluff he's left behind on them, lol. ah well got to love my cat.
i do love this autumy feel in the air now. i heard there is talks of a heat wave by end of week. i do hope not. i'm in winter mode. loved the very very heavy rain last night.0 -
I hope there's not a heatwave either. I like the cold sunny mornings.
Spent last night going through my wardrobe and setting aside my seriously summery clothes ready to be put into the suitcase. The thick wintery jumpers will need to be emptied from the case first though.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I am totally amazed by the squirrel rules! I had no idea there was anything like that in place.
We get black squirrels here ( a mutation from the grey) and they are really cute. I wouldn't want them in the loft but apart from that I think they are lovely animals . (Yes, I know about the red squirrel problem but I still think they greys and blacks are lovely).Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -

I don't know where abouts you live but I live in south west Scotland and since a week past on Monday we have had glorious sunny days and temps ranging up to 19degC.:j
But the week before that we suffered gale force winds and torrential rain!0 -
last year i wrapped loft insulation around my bath and then replaced the bath panel over it. WOW, i can now soak in hot water for atleast an hour, no expensive refills.
if you are a bather please try this, you will wallow for hours.......:j0 -
Wow what a fantastic idea! I am not a bather, but that is sheer blo**dy genius! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

I've just been to Ikea to get some curtains after reading this thread. It seems so expensive to get decent ones, I'd picked up some fairly flimsy ones which I could afford but wasn't really happy with. Got to the bargain basement section at the end and they had a pair of decent thick ready made lined curtains for £2.50 each so I grabbed them, I also picked up 3 throws for between £1.50 and £2.50 each. Got home and checked online and the curtains should have been £49.99 per pair!
Typically they course they aren't wide enough for the window I want to put them up at so am considering doing something artistic by making plain borders for them (might even use some of the throws I picked up).
So my tip for the day is don't forget the Ikea bargain bin!
Also I was thinking about curtain linings and was considering using the cheap ikea fleecy throws, would this work? Would be thicker than normal curtain lining.0
