Preparing for Winter

If I remember right, it was either Savers or Semi-Chem and they were £1.49 or maybe at the very most £1.99 - but definitely under £2.00! I certainly wouldn't pay more for than that - I'm my mother's daughter (as the saying goes)!
These hotties are also ribbed on one side and plain on the other - if thats any more help?;)
thanks, nippyone, I'll have a better look around! Only think is, don't think either of those stores are anywhere near me, but now I have a better price to aim for, I'll beat lidl's price if it kills me! The hunt is one!!!!:D

I did have to close the back door, which opens into the living room, though today as it was getting a little chilly when the rain set in.
Definitely no need for heating yet.
Reading this thread has made me realise how cosy this house is.
We're the same,it's realy warm in our bedroom too.
I can't stand the dry air when the central heatings on and in this house when I get up I open all the windows and the back door and they stay that way till I go to bed as I like the cool fresh air,so we won't be putting the heating on any time soon.
I just could'nt bear the discomfort.
Last year it was the 1st December before we put our heating on and then only for an hour or two a day and we both felt so much better for it.
Must admit this thread made me prepare so much last year that I don't need to do anything at all this year.
My loft and cupboards are heaving with stuff.
I'm prepared for blackouts, shortages and just about anything else that may happen :rotfl:.0 -
You lucky people. I woke this morning at 6.30am with the windows making a horrendous noise AND we've got double-glazing. We've got very strong howling winds and rain at the moment and the rain is coming in under the back door (had to mop it a couple of times) - this is a recent-built house with good insulation/door seals - but it's really bad out there this morning

Same here - we've still got the cool fan going at night. Seems that some of the north is still getting it nice.
Actually, pouring with rain this morning so the windows are staying closed and I'm debating whether to pop fluffy socks on. Heating won't be going on till end of Nov again, tho.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Been pouring down here as well for a great deal of the morning, tho the sun is out just now...best nip to the post box quickly! It was really cold out yesterday, but I still have my extremely thin duvet and feel quite warm enough...blame the hormones. hubby always has a duvet 2 grades warmer than I do![SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. I was looking on the Argos website at some brush style draught excluder. The price for one door bar for the bottom of a door was £9.99. I need to do the bottom of 3 doors and the side of my front door (does that have a gap:eek:). Altogether I would have needed to buy 5 bars to do what I needed. I looked in B&Q and found it quite expensive so I had a wee browse online and found a firm in Derbyshire selling a similar thing, only this would cost me only £16 inc VAT and delivery. Although it states that the complete door kit is for one door, the plastic can be cut quite easily and I now have enough for all my doors :j. Can't post a link as I am a newbie but the firm is called Bennetts Ironmongery and the door kit is called Silkseal full door set.DFW Nerd Club # 13640

You're very welcome:D. I haven't long moved into my house and I almost fainted when I spotted the gap on the front door - really - if I lost a few pounds I would be able to slip out in the morning without opening the door! ......... Wee Pilsbury might be exaggerating a wee bit here :rolleyes:DFW Nerd Club # 13640
