Preparing for Winter

hi Nessie thanks for that, I'll give it a go. Its things like bath towels and jumpers that are a pain to get dry x0

Someone said about cooking on their fire - do you use camping equipment on an ordinary log fire?
I cook on the top of my wood burning stove, no problem. Anything I can cook on the hob I can do on the top of the WB stove as it gets VERY hot. I warm the plates by standing them on a trivit and when they are hot I just move them off the top and carry on cooking.
I am usually only cooking for 3-4 though so, at xmas or on family Sundays I still use the cooker and 'over'spill' cook on the stove. It isn't difficult to do, you just need to keep an eye on everything at first until you get the used to the 'timings'.
Sorry to keep going on about the WB stove (I do love it though), but in the winter I dry all my washing on an airer in front of it which I put up when we go to bed, everything is bone dry in the morning, even thick sheets, towels etc.0 -

Same here Shaz. Except i WANT the rain and cold! We have no grass at all - the little we do have is brown
The big pond where all the ducks and geese live is bone-dry, so we've had to put a little paddling pool up there so they can at least have a drink
Roll on the gales and rain for us! xx0 -
Yep we've been having a pretty good summer in Yorkshire, too.

You're lucky down there. For the past several days, maybe a week, we've had torrential rain and gales!!!!!!!!
Some shops have even had to put sandbags at their doors! And some roads have only been passable with extreme caution - that's for those who wanted to risk it?
We would not mind a little bit of sun?0
