Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease
I thought a lapquilt is just a smaller version of a bed quiltbut maybe not
you could cut up a cheapy single duvet to make 2 smaller ones, cut and stitch the cover too for washable covers.
you could knit, or crochet one, or do a small patchwork; which are you thinking of doing?... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

xxxxYep sorry, HM is HomeMade - it took me a while to get it when I first saw it too.
Re these quilts... On one post I saw that people sew a pocket on them so when they aren't being used as lapquilts, they tuck the quilt into the pocket and use it like a cushion?Kind of like a "pack'a'mac"
Must be quite a large pocket to stuff the whole duvet into - i'm not sure where to sew it on either - in the middle or at one end - probably one end would be better?
Thanks for my replies - I do love this thread and was here a LOT last winter!

Hi Frugal
They're called quillows and I think I was the 'guilty party' that posted about them.
I'm just (supposed to be) cooking the boys tea but promise to come back later with instructions/pics for you.
Do you have a sewing machine? Are you looking to do a fleece one or a wadded one?

Here's a few links meanwhile0 -

Righto...
If you plan to do a wadded one the back looks like these...
You can do contrasting or in the same fabric like this one...
When open they look like this
When folded into their pillow like this...
as the pillow is also double sided0 -
Wow! They are really impressive - well done! I'm going to have a go at making one - thanks xxx:T :T :TI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Thanks Barneysmom they are so easy once you get the hang of them and so warm if you use 4oz or 6oz wadding.
You can also make one from a cheap fleece by just cutting a pillow from one end,the pillow part needs to be between 16" and 18" to hold the quilt ideally.
So if you trim a strip 16" wide from one of the short edges of a fleece, pin that in the centre top of the 'quilt' sew the two sided edges of the pillow down and the edge,so it leaves a pocket open for your feet, you then have a quillow(and a spare bit of fleece for a nice soft cushion)

I have one of these quillows which my friend in Australia sent me. It is a 'bought' one, and the pocket is positioned so that if you sit with the quillow on your lap but with the pocket on the underside and down near your feet, you can tuck your feet inside the pocket. This is wonderful as it keeps them nice and toastie, and keeps the quillow in the right position as your feet kind of anchor it!0
