I'm going to take note of this board. Hopefully I'll be moved into my new flat by Christmas, so will have to take responsibility for everything. I'll have night storage heaters there, so will have to figure out how to use them!:rotfl:Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0

Hi, I have been on holiday from work this week and so have had plenty time to start preparing for winter.
- I have repaired sealant around back door and painted woodwork around framework of both back and front doors.
- I have tidied the hut - major job!
- I have painted the bedroom ceiling (THREE TIMES)to cover water marks from storm damage last winter.
- I have organised freezer and kitchen cupboards - to use up forgotten foods - and make room for Christmas food shopping that I shall start next month.
Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Oh no I've fallen off the wagon
I have so far achieved nothing since I last posted
However, last night was that cold that it has again spurred me on to get my bottom into gear :j
Is it normal to be getting a draft through the kitchen cupboards?
Can't say I've ever noticed it before...0 -
What I have done so far
Washed the winter curtains, ready to be ironed and put up in October.
Got all the heavy duvets out, washed & ready for the change over
Same with the extra blankets
We fetched some solid pine interior doors from freecycle (excellent condition), they need a wipe over and a coating of wax before putting them on. But they are heavy, and we hope the thickness will keep the heat in the rooms.
Started to stock up with store cupboard essentials, like soups, flour, preserves, etc
Purchased some foot warmers, and fleece snuggle blankets for nights on the sofa. We all have dressing gowns as an extra.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -

If there is plumbing pipework in the cupboards, then yes. I used to have the same thing from a very badly fitted outside tap pipe connection - you wouldnt believe so much cold air could come through such a tiny gap!!
I fixed the problem with some blutak around the pipe!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Edited to say that in another rental property I had a gap between the top of the window frame and the wall - and that was new double glazing fitting  - I fixed that with blutak too... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Oooh you've gotta love blutak, toothpaste and vaseline they fix everything :j
I hadn't noticed it coming through the cupboard under the sink where the pipes are but it is coming through the cupboard next to the one with pipes so me thinks I'll be blutaking the pipes later cos the cupboards are badly fitted with gaps
Still got to do something about the draft around all the windows and doors0
