  • I was in Primark today and they have thermal undies in.

They have long sleeve vests for £5, thermal leggings for £5 and sleeveless vests for £4.

They are available in black or cream.

    ;)

Anyway. I have just dug out my two flasks (which I've seldom used) so that I can take hot tea with me when I go on my surveys. I used to stop at cafes and have a break but I think I'll do that less often and save some money. :)

I'm sitting here reading this with a woolly hat on ;)
    keeps the draughts out
I have to confess I have had the heating on, while we have a bath/shower, it's getting too cold in our bathroom now.
We should all be snug as bugs this year, all being well.

Been a quite warm here today, either that or im more adjusted to the cold than i thought. Little un has been running round all day with next to nothing on so it cant be that cold. Still no heating on, we're trying to hold out till nov if poss, i am lighting a few tealights on an evening tho to give the feeling of warmth.
Think my winter proofing is almost done thank god! Have put all winter quilts on beds n dug out all fleece blankets. Wish they made fleece fitted sheets that would be lovely n cosy. Got little un his all in ones for bed , thinking of getting myself a pair too from US but shouldn't really be spending at the mo.
Been thinking about putting foli behind my rads too. All my rads are on inside walls so would i still need to do this??? My OH said someone told him you only need to do that to rads on outside walls:confused: . Confused (dont take much)
I was looking for a blanket to cover my shoulders while im on laptop but couldnt find any that i liked or were cheap enough so i got one of the cheap asda fleeces n cut a slit in it to make a sort of poncho. Its the best £1 odd ive spent, does the job brill.
Only got to put up my lining on my dining room curtains then that should be it, i'm sure i'll find summat else that i should have or will need doing tho:p

went to tesco and they had fleece zip up jackets for £5 also thermals which are really pretty two types of vest top cap sleeved t shirts and leggings i think all in pink with cream lace grey with black lace and black and burgandy i think. i bought a grey t shirt for £4 it will look ok under a fleece as doesnt look like underware think i might get some more next week. also got some slippers which look a bit like ugg boots with furry linning also £5. i did have a voucher so saved £3 ( split a £6 off £30 voucher with OH as he was getting two jumpers ) then went to matalan and got hot water bottle with furry cover for DS for £5.

i was told that heat from radiators seeps into any walls so basically if your radiators are on a wall that ajoins your neighbours house your heating there house for them iv put foil behind all radiators.

  • For both of my boys we had fleece all in one sleepsuits which kept them warmer in winter esp. when they kicked off the blankets. Also really useful are baby sleeping bags but you aren't supposed to use them until baby is 10lb (no 2 son was heavier than that from day 1!) Good luck with the new baby!
  • Hi not sure if this is the right place to post this, so if not please let me know, but i think it fits in with this?

Both me and my husband are really warm types of people and as yet arn't feeling the cold, we still have out 4 tog summer duvet on and usualy dont put our 9 tog one on till oct/nov, and luckliy we live in a mid terrace thats a really warm house.

But I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 12 week old baby so am concerned about them being warm. so i wanted some advice on heating. Im considering putting the heating on and just turning off all the radiators in the house apart from their bedrooms,

or i thought about buying a couple of the small 500w oil filled radiators that you plug in for their bedrooms.

dose anyon know which would be the cheaper option? or if not where i can work it out?

although we dont really need the heating on at the mo, i think my little boy needs a bit more heat in his bedroom soon.(baby still in with us at the mo)

Sorry to sound dense but how does it work with Lidl offers? I don't have one near me but will be in a town that does sometime next week so thought I'd call in and get a few things (esp the mini footwarming slipper duvets!!). However they're not on the website any more, there's just a load of art stuff. Does that mean I've missed my chance or would they still keep them if they're left over? Is it the same with Aldi and Netto too?

    Thanks

Not sure about Lidl and Netto but Aldi bring in new stuff on Thursdays and Sundays but if they have any of the last lot of stuff left over they still have them out for sale but there will not be any advertising for them. Bit hit or miss depending on the shop by that point

Has anyone seen any fingerless gloves around yet? I've been told by my doctor I need to try and keep warm (sensitive circulation apparently), but I use the computer a lot and I can't type while wearing normal gloves (trust me I tried :o:rotfl::rotfl: ), my toes however are sorted ;). I would have got the USB ones someone mentioned but I'll be wanting the gloves for when I'm reading, watching TV and stuff as well, I may even wear them out over my other gloves once the frosty mornings start ;) Oh and I can't knit anything other than scarves/blankets so that option is out too :p:rotfl::rotfl: It might also save my electricity bill as well since I keep having to make hot drinks to keep my fingers warm! (Thermos recommended by my mum will be bought next time I go to Woolworths ;) )

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
