Monday 31st August what small DFWthings will you be doing today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really important! :j
I hope no one minds me starting us off, I couldn't see a thread. Hopefully you're all having a lovely lie in
What a grim day here in the Midlands. Persisting it down with rain
oh well, less opportunity for spends as we won't go far today :T
My (not very big) list :
Food from stores and meal plan
Make waffles for breakfast
Continue to strip wallpaper from lounge - good rainy day task
Quick tidy round before 4 day working week
Make some lunch for work tomorrow
Soak oats overnight for Bircher muesli
Washing machine on overnight if weather looks better tomorrow
Go for a run, even though it's raining - must make sure I do this, can't be a fair weather runner else I won't be doing much come winter
Enjoy your day everyone

Morning All
Thanks for the start Jono!
So I've woken to torrential rain. This is not good news. Need to leave by 8 am and I just know I will be soaked to the bone the moment I leave for work. Torrential rain also means I will have no passing trade whatsoever so will have to rely on people coming by car. Bank holidays can always be either great or dreadful for the resaon that people go away and a lot will stay away right till the last minute. Sigh.
Still I can't change the weather or my planned opening hours so pray I will evolve gills on my cycle in instead
A poster I have gotten to know fairly well via one of the chslenges I do has finally declared herself debt free today after shifting 40k of debt. Now if that isn't good news I don't know what is. Keep hitting the repayments guys and we will get there too!
Bye for now.

Morning Jonno, Bob, and everyone who comes along later

Pouring with rain here too Bob - typical bank holiday weather
Hopefully it will clear up later.
List for today:
Aiming for a NSD, conscious of the weekly spend challenge now :eek: Hmm did an online shop (instead of going tomorrow). The money won't be debited from my card till tomorrow -does that count?
Make a loaf in the BM Done
Meals from stores Done
Make mushroom soup with mushrooms that haven't been used. I googled for a recipe without cream, more diet friendly
That will do for lunch, and I have some chilli to finish up for dinner, with a jacket potato and some salad. The soup was ok (just as well as there is lots left) but not as nice as the creamed one
Pick tomatoes if it dries up (not good to pick them wet unless you want to use them straight away, and I already have a HUGE bowlful in the kitchen. It hasn't dried up
OH did pick some more French beans in the rain though :rotfl:
Make roasted tomato sauce for the freezer with the ripest of these, just bung them in the oven with a couple of cloves of garlic, a drizzle of olive oil and some salt and pepper, when done sieve to remove pips and skins (I have a mouli legumes which makes short work of this
) Done
Do a meal plan Done
Make a shopping list for tomorrow, aiming to buy only those things I need for the meal plan, and I probably have most of it! Did this, then ordered it online
Hmm sounds like a cooking day today - perhaps I will make a cake as well! Didn't do this - I will put it on my list for tomorrow I think!0 -
Morning jonno & Bob! Thanks for starting us off jonno :A Hope the wallpaper stripping is a speedy process! I'm such a sucker for marketing as anything I see anyone else doing I want to do! So when I read you're stripping wallpaper I immediately thought we could do the same in our bedroom
even though I have loads to do today already!
Bob hope you don't get too wet on your way to work and lots of people are wanting to get out of the house today x
Small things for the day:

Hi All
Horrendouse internet here, none all weekend, and been trying on and off since 6 am to post.
Which is daft as I have nothing exciting to report. Wanted to say, hurrah to Dawn W on getting a pup and have a good day Bob.
So far whole BH weekend has been NSD. Bizarre, but lots happening at home and just not going anywhere. Internet has just crashed again!!!0 -

Morning DFW-ers,
Thanks for the starter Jonno.
I had another good night's sleep so now it's on with Operation Happiness and Sanity.
Nillionaire Month Three:
* Checked Finances online. OK
* Check broadband allowance. OK
* Just one caffeinated drink today. Will finish up fruit flavoured tea granules and drink tap water instead. Won't use any milk.
* Turned alarm clock off at the wall til tonight. OK
* Shed-load of Job-seeking tasks. Half way through.
* Listen to free BBC podcasts a second time before deleting them. (Link) Done
* Watch DVDs from cupboard.
* Bake some homemade bread.
Thought for the day:
"Smooth seas do not make good sailors."
Have a good day and a good Bank Hol if you're down south.
