Bauer Media win - Excluded for 6 months is frustrating!

This week I won a prize via Bauer Media which is over the £500 mark, and I've read that this means I can't win another prize through Bauer Media for 6 months.

Whilst I'm overjoyed at winning a big prize, I'm also gutted because I've now excluded myself from the majority of comps that I always enter - I've been looking at the list of magazines/radio stations that Bauer run and OMG I'm not going to be able to enter so many comps now.....!!

I've always dreamed of winning 10K with take a Break or a family holiday with Kiss FM for example - I understand the rule and I actually think it's a good idea, but I normally just tap away and enter all comps I fancy - now I'll have to check whether Bauer Media run them as it will be a waste of time entering.

I'm not moaning really lol, I just didn't realise how many comps are actually run via this company - they are MASSIVE!! Oh well, counting down the 6 months till I can start entering again :)

I had the same a year ago

Try to look at it this way - you'll have quite a few less comps to enter around the busy Xmas period so it will make the advents easier for you! :rotfl:

The 6 months will go quickly

Since winning the £500+ prize last year, I now more carefully select the prizes I enter for with Bauer and make more careful choices over whether it's worth entering for that prize around £500 or hold out for the higher value prizes ;)

Thanks Biker*Chick, that's a positive way of looking at it - I never usually find the time for advents so maybe this year will be the year I go all out with them!

And yes I'm sure the 6 months will go quickly, to be fair the prize I won is amazing - I just didn't realise how it would restrict me entering further ones. Once the 6 months is up I'll be more selective of the ones I enter, thanks for the tip.

It's blown my mind reading the list of mags etc that they own, no wonder they regularly offer such amazing prizes - makes sense now :)

It's annoying when a prize is only put above the £500 limit because of something small they throw in with the main prize.

They are not clear about the limit either

FAQs on Clyde1 (and some other Click to wins) state no limit
Do you limit the number of contests I can win?
There is no limit to the amount of contests you can win

but the T&C's on Bauer Media (which would take precedence over the FAQs) do
Prize Limits. No person or persons at the same residential address may win more than one prize valued at £500 or more via any of our Competitions in any six (6) month period

    HOWEVER

    Bella
    Eat in
    Spirit and destiny
Take a break (inc Fate & Fortune)
    That's Life
    TV Choice

are all part of H Bauer Publishing Limited a sister company to Bauer Media Group with their own T&C's which do not include any limit on wins

    Bauer Media
    Multiple Entries...

Prize Limits. No person or persons at the same residential address may win more than one prize valued at £500 or more via any of our Competitions in any six (6) month period.

    Retrospective Effect.....

You can still enter for the smaller prizes below £500, though?

    Well done on winning :)

I'm sure I read a few months back (maybe May or June?) that the £500 limit was changed to £1000, but I can't find the post that referenced it! Obviously it's £500 now, so either it was changed briefly and is now back to £500 or I've completely lost my marbles?! :D

EDIT: plus a limit of 2 or 3 prizes per [certain number of months] of any value as well?

No, never been a Bauer limit (of £1,000) but Global changed theirs to £1,000
So that we can ensure the fairness of our competitions, we reserve the right to prevent you, at our absolute discretion, from entering any of our Competitions for a period of six months if you have either (i) won a Prize valued at £1,000 or greater or (ii) won more than one Prize during the previous six months. If we choose to exercise this right we will notify you in writing.

Yes, there are no restrictions on smaller prizes (with Bauer).

Aha thank you! Was beginning to think I'd dreamt it!

This is the thread I was thinking of then:

Just got my companies mixed up :)

Next silly question.....Is there a list somewhere of what's under Bauer Media, Bauer Publishing, Global etc. (what are the other mag dailies ones? Hearst? Media Bounty? Time UK?)?
