    Evening all,

I too was lost without mse this morning! Its always my first check in with a cuppa in the morning.
Glad its back up and running.

Been quite a good day, some mse bits we have done...
:starmod: Kids wanted to spend their pocket money on lego. Looked online and T0ysrus was the same price as amazon, so called in at t/rus on way to my parents for lunch. Again the price on the SEL was higher then the online price, SEL said £28.99 but we showed the online price at the till and they price matched it. Saving £7.58 each for the boys :) Also picked up a couple of free bits that were with the t/rus coupons, a free mini pack of haribos and a minions thing (haven't looked at it yet so don't really know what it is
:starmod: Whilst in toysrus, there was a promo for power rangers, and they had a photo booth that the kids went in and had photo taken with a digital image of a power ranger at the back of them, both kids got a photo & an activity pack and all I had to do was fill in a quick survey :)
    :starmod: Breakfast was ys crumpets
:starmod: ds1 wanted to order some lego books off amaz0n, got him to log onto the local library page and he's been able to put 5 of them on hold.. result :)
:starmod: dh's coffee machine broke a while ago and the one he wanted was on offer in currys today, he bought gift vouchers (with 7% off) from work perks site and we used them to buy the machine :)also remembered to click & collect via tcb so an extra £2 tracked :)
:starmod: Kids having a sleep over at their grandparents, we were supposed to be going to the cinema & for a meal for our anniversary, but we've decided to have a night in and called at m&s to get some nibbles instead :)
:starmod: Making do with food we have in for tomorrow and will get a delivery Monday instead
    :starmod: Do some swagbucks :)
    :starmod: Check fpl
    :starmod: Check luckyphone :)
    :starmod: Check banks/update spreadsheet :)

    That's about it for now.

    Enjoy the weekend all :)

Like others I was a bit lost this morning, funny really as I've only been back posting a week but I have tried to get in a routine of posting.

    My list for the weekend:
Packed lunch to long dance sessions with both daughters
Brisk walk whilst one older one was dancing after LO had gone home with OH, logged on run keeper
Meals from stores - reflected whilst making one of our favourite chicken and bean enchiladas tonight how much we've changed. Pre :money: I would have used 3 chicken breasts as per the recipe and we would have had 2 or 3 each. Now I use 1 CB and we have one each. So much more :money:
Fixed leaky tap at no cost
Quick fly lady round kitchen and bathroom
2 loads of washing done today before rain due tomorrow
Will try and put up bargain desk we bought with te5co boost, only cost us £2.95 delivery and £6 vouchers. Was originally £50. Still not sure it's right but whose to argue :rotfl: we can then sell our other one. New one is smaller so will feel like we have more space.
Try and get electric fire off wall and sell
Strip more wall paper in lounge if it rains and we don't go out as planned
If we go out take lunch, snacks and drinks
    Run tomorrow
Dropped friend DD home and she gave me a bag of lovely 2nd hand clothes for my girls :T
Contemplate buying flights for holiday next year, a different airline has released theirs and they are significantly cheaper than any others. Do we wait or not
Maybe list on fleabay... Just maybe :rotfl:

    Enjoy your long weekend everyone.

    Happy Sunday everyone :hello:

Did some more DF stuff last night. Found renew for OH car insurance fir £50 less than quote plus £40 cb. Means in total it's just £140. I can live with that. Looks like cb is slow to payout based on approximate date but if it comes, it's not an issue. Have the money saved In our annual bills accounts so will buy later, cancel the other one and then move difference to CC.
Going to set myself a target of £100 extra made in September. Will go straight to CC. Inspired by DNMS and her excellent effort in August :D
Decided to have left over enchiladas for tea rather than freezing them so little cooking tonight :j might get some gooseberries out of the freezer and crumble mix and put 2 together as a BH treat :p
Right off to do breakfast for me and the smalls x

    Morning all

OK I am going to rant, sorry. Its my SILs 50th birthday in a few days. A big family group of us are going to the races next Sunday. This will be an expensive day for the four of us, and of course I need to buy SIL a decent present too.

I saw SIL yesterday and asked her what she was doing on her actual birthday and she said that she thought we might all go out for a meal!!! I started to say, oh thats a nice idea but not sure we can afford it with the races as well but she cut me off saying its OK I have got a discount voucher for a local restaurant. Trouble is there are four of us and the teenagers eat adult portions so even with the voucher it's not going to be cheap.

Brother and sister in law have plenty of money, and I know she will be thinking that its only £50 or so which is nothing to her.

I need to just tell her we cant afford it but I know she wont take it well. Its annoying because I have juggled our September finances to afford this races trip but she wont understand that.

Sometimes I hate not having lots of money!!!!!
  • aw Yorkshirelass that sucks! You are just going to have to be assertive (and your bravest) and say thank you but we can't do that. Possibly invite her round for dinner in a few days? I know how you feel about not having enough money. We were invited for a big family meal on Friday as oh's family are around for a family wedding yesterday. It would have been lovely but there's no way I can afford it at the moment.

Morning guys! Feeling a little worse for wear this morning! After the wedding reception oh & I sat up late into the morning drinking wine, chatting & playing songs on youtube. Was great fun but it wasn't so much fun when I was woken up at 7!

Keeping it simple today as we are off out to a local festival today :j

    * quick tidy round. House is looking a bit of a bombsite
    * b/d from stores
    * pick any rip blackberries
    * water & feed plants
    * stick to budget for the day!
    * work out my spends for the next week and post it on the weekly challenge ccl has resurrected
    * finish job application this evening
    * list at least 5 things on ebay

Ok that's all I think I'll do. Better have another coffee before I do anything else :rotfl:
    DF as at 30/12/16
    Wombling 2025: £87.12
    NSD March: YTD: 35
Grocery spend challenge March £253.38/£285 £20/£70 Eating out
    GC annual £449.80/£4500
    Eating out budget: £55/£420
    Extra cash earned 2025: £195
  • Good morning everyone... Happy Sunday
legomum Hope your voice is better soon - I agree it may be Dr time after a fortnight.
Jonno Some fabby moneysaving there :money:
I agree with DNMS, Yorkshirelass - you will need to say no to your sister. You have budgeted to do something with her for her birthday, you can't do it all. My sister knocked me back for my hen night because she was skint at the time but made sure that she came for the meal - I completely understood.
I woke up at 6am this morning - suppose it's good practise for going back to work on Tuesday. Busy day on today so I may not be around and about as much as usual. Here's today's list:
:D Hairdressers for me and DS
    :D Visit my mam
:D Me and the kids will have lunch at my mam's
:D 15 mins housework and declutter
:D night out with the girls tonight. I don't get out very often and this has been planned since May. It's on a Groupon voucher and I am driving so hoping for minimal spends. I have allocated £30 but in reality I am hoping to bring quite a bit home.
:D definitely need to do some surveys
:D one hour of tutoring (£25)
:D read some of my book

    Have a fantastic day

Ziggy, did my idea fix your emails? (Post number 8, above). If not give us more info and I'll find out why it's duplicating.

    Morning DFW-ers,

Had another relatively good night's sleep so it's on with this weekend's Operation Happiness and Sanity. We're going to try to pack as much rest, fun and recuperation in as we can this weekend all in MSE-style.

    Nillionaire Month Three:

    * Headed down to the marina for a run. Used free Runkeeper App. (Link) Lovely morning. Got some data to analyse later. (Love Maths.)

    * Not drinking any caffeinated drinks this weekend. Finishing up fruit flavoured tea granules and drink tap water instead.

    * Turned alarm clock off at the wall til tonight.

    * Sunglasses broke. :( Only bought them in June so they are going back during the week. I try to keep the receipts for (nearly) everything. This has saved me so much trouble.

    * Few Job-seeking tasks to be done later.

    * Going to local Viking Festival s'afternoon. Stop drooling Foxgloves! Won't spend any money at all. Short, free air show overhead at 3pm. OH will enjoy photographing it. Will not pay £5 to go into the authenitic Viking village: seen it before. Will walk around food stalls but won't buy anything. Will park for free in local side street not on the seafront for £3.

*OH is reading one of my books from the cupboard. If you like crime thrillers I recommend Alex Grey's novels about Glasgow.

    * OH enjoying 'playing' with the new strimmer.

    * Continue to watch DVD boxed set bought with free voucher later.

    Let the fun commence.
