Which email provider? And are you using Outlook?

If it's Outlook the "Leave Messages on the Server" box might have been checked on your Outlook Express account settings. To fix uncheck the "Leave Messages on the Server" box. To do this, click on Tools>Accounts. You will see a box open (named Internet Accounts), click "Mail" tab, click on the mail account, click on Properties>Advanced. Remove the check in the box "Leave a copy of messages on server."

Like a lot of folks I felt a bit lost when I logged in and MSE was down for maintenance, I'd missed any warnings so it was a bit of a shock. By the time MSE was back our guests had a arrived and we were busy spending time catching up with them, we had a lovely day very relaxing. At the end of the day I did wonder what you had all been up to, sad or what.

crazy cat lady Thanks for resurrecting the weekly spends challenge.

I don't feel very motivated today, I would be happy to sit here all down on the computer but I must try and do something.

    Today I plan to do:

    Afternoon all :)
    Raining here again :(
BUT I actually got some sleep last night :T Worked out that the pup's problem was that he didn't like the dog crate. I just put him in the kitchen with his bed, and apart from a few squeaks when I actually left him, he was quiet all night. I had to wash the kitchen floor, but that was a small price to pay! He was even happy to be left this morning (no squeaks this time) for a couple of hours while we went to a car boot sale. Had some frantic games when we got back though :rotfl: Now worn out and asleep under my chair!

    Apart from that:
*A few items bought at the car boot for my sales unit, but apart from those (business costs), my only spend was £1 for a bunch of carrots (our next batch need another couple of weeks) :)
*Cleaned through downstairs. Even though pup is about the same size and weight as a bag of sugar, he can trash the place in no time  :rotfl:
    *Washed bathroom floor

    Still to do:
*Cook a roast dinner as DD2 and her family are coming round. They are bringing pudding apparently, so I won't need to make anything :T
*Give OH a knife, bowl and the basket of apples that still need prepping - he can do that while watching never ending sport on the idiot box!

Well, what with baby GD and the puppy, I will be worn out by the end of the afternoon, so I think I will leave it at that today!

Hope everyone is having a nice day, despite the weather, if it is anything like ours!

    Hi all

Been thinking that maybe if this meal out really matters to SIL we should just go. Its £50 I would otherwise be paying off the cards but sometimes thats just the way it goes.

Glad the pup is settling Dawn.

Like Ally I am trying to cut down on caffeine. I cant live without hot drinks and have tried various fruit teas, none of which I liked very much. I am now on L*dl peppermint tea. Which is OK - ish.

Found a banana loaf in the freezer yesterday so just been munching on that. Out for tea so wont have to cook tonight

Ds has tried on his school shoes - and they fit!!! They should last him till Christmas at least. Just need some shirts now.

Having half an hour with my library book before we go out.

Yorkshire - I was just wondering whether you could do the meal and skip the gift? If you are already paying for that plus the races it seems fair to me.

We are another family trying to sort out school shoes. In November last year we bought a pair from Argos for £9.99 using my MBNA credit card rewards voucher for Argos. They have lasted till the end of the summer term. Son likes them as well which is a huge plus as he moans terribly about his shoes being too loose! They don't allow laces at his school either so it has to be slip ons or velcro.
Anyway I have another voucher now. So went to Args today. Annoyingly the shoes were reduced to £3.99 ages ago. But now the store has sold out. As have all the local stores. And you can't order them either from the online site. The girl on the till said she couldn't tell me when they would be available either.
Dilemma. We have the old pair which fits just. But he does need more. Do we hold out and hope the favoured style come back or man up and pay for them somewhere else.

Other small things. OH and I had the last of my home made tomato soup for lunch which was enough for a small bowlful each. I then used the YS Kingsmill straight from the freezer to do us chorizo and cheddar toasties too.

At the supermarket which we cycled to, we got a huge 4kg sack of cat food & an 825g box which came to £10 which we had a get 150 points for nectar voucher. So that was worth £0.75 & put me over the limit for another £2.50 reward.

Son did his coin star search and came away with 22p dropped under it today. I later found 1p.

Not strictly MS but the police were outside marking bikes so OH stood and had all 3 of ours done while me and son shopped. They said to OH that they know thieves confronted with a choice of 2 bikes to steal will go for non marked bikes (they can tell by the sticker) so that's good. OH paid £400 for his new bike via his work bike loan scheme so it would be a pain if it were stolen. Mine only cost £90 so I care a lot less. But mine tends to only be left for very short times outside shops whereas OH locks his all day at a train station so again his needs more expensive lock etc.

Loaded reciepts to COS and Clicksnap. 6p earned.
Had 19 wombled points added on at Mr T
Wombled a reciept with milk on it, so need to walk back up later and take a picture of the Barcode on the correct milk for a further 25p on shoptize.

We just had slices of the lemon curd cake I made last weekend which is still lovely and fresh and then played in the garden for a while.
Now just about to watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets which son wants us to read next.

    Think that's it today guys!

Happy weekend all! I'm so annoyed as I've had such a spendy one :( Was a friends birthday last night and today I went out with my fiance and some friends, I think for last night and today I've spend about £55 in total, angry with myself :( Anyway, this evening, I'm home alone with a glass of wine and my laptop! There I will be:

    - Doing MySurvey
    - Doing Swagbucks
    - Check online banking - Done
    - Check Ebay/Gumtree sales

And generally chill out! :) Have a good bank holiday weekend all! I am working tomorrow, 6 hours at double pay, I'll take that! :)

    Hello All,
Thanks for your kind wishes as to my dentist traumas. I'm feeling much less sore today. Had friends round yesterday & I think I yakked so much that the stiffness in my jaw where I had the injections & all the drilling just loosened up :-)

Bob - Glad my humble blog was of use to you in the absence of MSE yesterday. Yes, all our taddies MIA. I blame Mr Heron, the greedy pig.

Ally - Drooling over VIking re-enactors? Me? As if I would. I've got so much more class. No, actually, I really haven't. Phwooar, why aren't there any around here? Nearest Viking shenannigans to us usually Scarborough, & that's a fair way north.

OK, better get myself together & post my small things achievements.

    Afternoon all,
Bob, re school shoes, if ds's shoes are ok for the minute, I would just keep an eye on argos stock incase they come back in, if they don't you aren't any worse off and you can shop around elsewhere at that point. My two are going back to school on Wed in their shoes they had at the end of July, there both a bit scuffed and they don't have much room left in them but they will do, we will then go to the designer outlet (1/2 hr drive away) which has a clarks outlet and buy new shoes either next weekend or the one after (its always mental in there before term starts) we usually get there trainers for £18ish each instead of £30 ish.

yorkshirelass, your sil has put you in a difficult position there, you need to do whatever you are comfortable with.

Dawn, glad you had a better night with yoiur new puppy!

Baileysbabe, sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday :)

Ally, I hope you are feeling better for getting some rest this weekend,

CCl, enjoy your girls night :)

dnms, sounds like you had a lovely evening :)

Ziggy, hope you had a relaxing day with your family

    Jonno, gooseberry crumble yummy!

We've had a productive day but most of the house still looks like a bombs hit! Since ditching sky in the middle of the month we have been using hdmi lead into dh's ipad or laptop and watching amz0n prime or iplayers etc that way but we have a talktalk youview box upstairs that we've decided to bring down into our room and move other things around. We are very lucky with what we have bought gadget/furniture wise over the years and often used/chopped/re-purposed furniture around the house. Today we've taken a long footstool out of the kids room and recovered it in some fabric that we had bought years ago to make some giant cushions and recovered the footstool to go in our room, it looks so lovely and fresh and has really lifted our room. It has also made the kids playroom look bigger since its no longer in there :)
Also had a tidy round in the garage, not quite finished in their but it looks better (and theres now room to walk down the middle of it!) Pulled a lamp back in from there and will use it on our newly cleared desk (seeing as the desktop pc died last week)
Touched up paint in several spots too.
Its all cost us nothing but the house looks a lot better for it :)

Kids & dh are watching starwars whilst I post on here. This is the only thread I post on but I see that some of you have other threads going too so I'm off for a nosy :p

OK, friends, am back again with my list of frugal things:
*Ate leftovers for breakfast. Ate more leftovers for lunch. And leftovers for snacks. And more leftovers for dessert tonight. Why so many leftovers at the house where meal planning is king, I hear you say? Because we had a BBQ yesterday & mr f got the old red man-mist when it came to buying the meat. There was just too much. Luckily he realised this before he put some of it on the BBQ & he froze it instead. We had too much chicken, too much pork & too many skewers. And we'd have had even more left if I hadn't managed to wrestle a rack of ribs out of his hands in the Co-op & somehow get it back onto the shelf while trying hard not to shout the words 'fat pig'. The food was really lovely, nothing wasted, just not much chance of getting the grocery budget easily back on track. Bah!
*More about food. Put ham hock & boston beans in slow cooker first thing. Lovely recipe. Will eat some of it for dinner tonight & the rest will be frozen to take with us to eat on the first night of our camping trip.
*Busy day deep-cleaning the lounge. Wanted a change of look without spending money. We have achieved this by moving furniture around & using an old wooden chest which I stripped a few years ago as a 'new' coffee table. Mr f found 1p behind the sofa ('lounge-kill'?)
*mr f remembered we had an old can of black stove paint in the shed & sprayed the back of our gas fire surround plus the 'coals'. Looks much better.
*Our Virgin media contract changes tomorrow so watched the final recorded TV prog I'd got on the Tivo box. mr f has spent a happy afternoon sitting behind the tv unit in a pile of cables & has refitted his Humax box which was in the loft doing nothing. Contract reduced by £16 a month, starting Sept. Good saving. (I said we could only have Amazon Prime if we saved the cost of it elsewhere & we have more than achieved this).
    *Watered greenhouse veggies.
    *Sent ebay buyer an invoice.
Think that is it for today. Most of the day has been spent cleaning & decluttering.
    Enjoy your evening, all.
    f xx
