Hello all. Have read through this thread, Happy Birthday Ticklemouse! Leo's rule! Amie, have sent you a PM. Hope we can meet up. Alibob, best wishes for your dad. Give him lots of hugs 'n' kisses from the OS gang.
We to hotel for a night lastnight, birthday treat from Lordgrim. Was lovely to get away for a night and not have to worry about cooking and washing up!! Wonderful to have some time alone with him too. Its funny how everyday living gets in the way of quality time! Anyway, Im back today all refreshed and full of life, and he's gone down with a tummy bug!! Has retired to bed again to try to sleep it off. Porr thing!
I hope someone here can help. I have posted this on the holiday/travel thread but have not had any replies yet.
We moved from the Midlands some years ago and now live in Cornwall. We still have lots of family 'up country' and are planning a trip in early December 2007.
Only problem is there is 'no room at the inn' and we are looking for somewhere in Halesowen (Spires Lane area) to stay for a couple of nights.
I have tried looking onine for somewhere, and most places are in Birmingham, Dudley, Kiddermindster - this would be too far away as we will be without transport.
Does anyone here do B+B, or Guest House work actually in Halesowen itself?
Just thought I would ask on here before going the route of pitching a tent.
PM me if you have any advice/suggestions (keep it clean!). Thanks for your help, and everyone have a wonderful day.
Ladygrim

Good morning everyone,
We are ticking along here at the Smoky household, OH on 4th course of antibiotics and awiting results of his sample to see what is causing this infection. My step mum is in hospital having fallen and broken her pelvis - she is the most awful woman very caustic and cutting in her remarks and this is 10 times worse at the moment. I have to feel sorry for her though as she has two bad knees with one awaiting surgery and so I really don't know if she will be able to go home anytime soon as she lives on her own.
I have my first attempt at a whole chicken in the SC with an inch of water in the bottom, and we are aiming for a non food spend week except for milk and bread. The freezers are full and we have been out picking plums yesterday. We have already got some jars of blackberry jam made, and have enjoyed crumbles and pies with a large amount frozen for the coming few months. There are also some sloes nearby at which we are thinking sloe gin  and the hazelnuts should be ready in another few weeks.
We also have found an abandoned orchard about a mile down the road with some lovely apples and pears - trouble is I think the whole village knows that they are there.
We have had a good crop of cauliflower, broccoli and cabbages from our back garden and these have ben blanched and frozen. The onions are nearly ready too.
The weather is foul again today and I have washing drying all over the place - our gas and leccy bills have been higher than anticipated even though we have all 'done our bit' but we will have to try harder.
Work is good, I have been doing one 14 and a half hour day each week to make a start on repaying the time owing after they kindly paid me after OH's last trip to hosi. I'm in 2 - 9.30 today so OH wil be in charge until the terrors go to bed.
Happy birthday to all I have missed and (((((HUGS))))) to all who need one.
JackieO good to see you are back, I love your posts - they always make me smile.
Take care all,
Smoky. xxxIf you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

Sorry Ladygrim , no where near me!
I posted a reply to the "Oily fish" thread yesterday and got a couple of really rude replies.
The poster was after some fish recipes as GP had said eat more oily fish. I assumed that was because they were after omega 3 so I listed some veggie sources of this. Was that wrong? I was only putting an alternative not getting on a soapbox trying to convert people! Why are some people so touchy? I think I'll stick to this thread in the future because everyone is always nice on here!
That's going to cheese me off for the rest of the day now!!:mad:Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Hello everyone
Thaks for all your birthday wishes - I'm still sat in bed with my lappy, although I have had my shower and hairwash.
Sorry I haven't been around much. I do occasionally pop in and have a read, but to be honest, not lately. I've just returned home from a couple of weeks away with the boys - mainly visiting firends around the place. We did manage to do lots of zoos and an aquarium - thanks Mr T :T
Still managing to be fairly OS, but then it's 2nd nature to me. On the home front - still not sorted, but getting there. It's not easy atm - but when it's all done and dusted I'll come back and tell you. Put it this way - I'll HAVE to be OS if I want to maintain a decent standard of living.
JackieO - glad to hear that you are still living life to the full and that spirit of yours is up. After all, you have a lot of little chicks to inspire :rotfl:
So, hugs to all and  to all you newbies who have appeared since .... ooh, about February. (Yes, that's all of you wondering who this strange Ticklemouse person is
)
Right, off to dry my hair and then I fancy conjuring up a huge avocado salad for lunch. YUM.
Will try and pop in again sometime before, say, Christmas :rotfl:
Love to all

Morning All,
Hope evryones well, sending hugs to those who would like one.
ALIBOB30~ hope all goes well with your dads op tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.
CRAZYCHIK~ good luck holiday hunting, is there room in your suitcase for lickle ol me?
PAWPURRS~ sorry to hear you have had a run of bad luck, hope things get better for you soon.
FBTHREE~ hope the cold disappears as soon as it appears. You do realsie your DH will have “man-flu” by the end of the day. My cat marley used to “fetch” bouncy balls. He doesn’t
anymore because every-time he goes near a ball, ILO takes it off him.
just posted a huge message then when it posted it went all peculiar
Had some good news yesterday, in the form go those usually horrid brown envelopes? One letter said the DWP have ACCEPTED me for incapacity benefit, the second said they would backdate if from June.
My overdraft can breathe a sigh of relief now
Well I’m aching big-time today. My left legs doing my “baps in” and I have an unreal pain in my a*** (and before you all say no it’s not OH)
Right going to attempt some baking, Twinks hobnobs for OH. I don’t like them, nothing to do with the recipe just don’t like hobnobs. (Bet I’m the only OS’er that doesn’t, i’ll get my coat)
Have a good day y’all

good morning everyone,
well the hallway is painted and looking nice and clean, went to shops to look for carpet remnant for the hallway and found a bargain in B&Q carpet for £2.47 a square meter so we bought it for £26.00. brought it home and measured up the kids' bedrooms and went and bought them new carpet too got all three for under £100. to be honest we cant really afford it but it seemed too much of a bargain to pass it up.
still feeling very low but going to try and give myself a shake and try and get some motivation going to try and pull myself together. Looks like i have blown my career after taking the overdose so my income is going to be down £22K a year!!!!!!
will be spending serious amounts of time on OS to do some cut backs and tighten purse strings, its going to be very hard loosing my income but my DOH says your health must come first.
anyways off to try and tidy up the kitchen a little and see whats in the freezer etc.
have a great sunday everyone
kindest regards

Hi everyone.
Happy Birthday Ticklemouse
Hugs to anyone who is unwell or has an ill relative and there seem to be a few at the moment.
Well we went over to my MIL's yesterday and she wasn't too bad and did seem appreciative of the things we did for her, but I do find it hard going over there and I think I'll leave DH to go on his own each week and I'll go every 2 or 3 weeks.
We had a very late breakfast of yummy warm croissants bought from Aldi. We ate loads in Holland and the girls love them with just butter on them.
I'm going to start empting the kitchen cupboards and drawers today as DH will be replacing the doors, drawers, worktops and sinks over the next week. My cupboards are like the tardis and I've got no idea where I'm going to put everything!
We're going over to my parents for a meal later and DH has just told me that Liverpool are playing Chelsea, so I guess he and my dad will be watching that while me and my mum have a chat.
Hope you have a quiet/dry day.0 -
Hello Everyone - cold and wet here in Liverpool this morning - my washing pile is growing alarmingly.
Annie399 - have a great time in Cornwall
Luxor4T - Sorry you had such a rough night with the neighbours - hopefully they won't be having any more all nighters for a while.
alibob - hope all goes well with your Dad tomorrow
Ticklemouse - Happy Birthday!
Tilly - Glad your Mum finally got a night's sleep
Oops a Daisy - Hope the party goes well
Crazychik - Hope you find a holiday - where do you want to go? I hunted round for hours on the net and at the Travel Agents yesterday trying to find a holiday for ex OH to take the kids and everything was mega expensive. Finally I found a week in Gasconcy with eurocamp in a Monaco deluxe mobile home, with flights and a hire car for £800 all in. I thought that was really good - I booked it and am tempted to tell Ex OH that it was more when he comes round to pay me later
Pawpurrs - Sorry to hear about OH's redundancy. I was made redundant last year and still haven't found anything.
JackieO - Glad you had a good night and hope the kids are suitably excited over the holiday plans
Scuzz - You sound thoroughly stressed out to me ex OH's can be sooooo infuriating
FBThree - Hope the cold improves
Ladygrim - Sorry you are nowhere near my area, but hope you find something.
I am going to a friends for tea with DD2 and she always does a wonderful roast dinner so I am looking forward to that.
I see that alot of you do ebay for selling unwanted items and I wondered what sort of stuff do you sell? I have a house bursting with stuff but I am not sure it is in good enough nick to sell.
Will start to get uniforms sorted tomorrow - DD2 has a big tummy so have to buy a bigger size and then the stuff looks too big everywhere else. I will have to try and get her to eat less but she had an enormouse appetite and I don't want her to get "issues" with food at only 9. I was always put on a diet as a child and I think that is why I am so overweight and messed up around food nowadays.
Anyway, hope you are all having a good Sunday.Jane

Dia Dhibh!
Happy birthday Ticklemouse and belated birthday wishes to Ladygrim:bdaycake: :bdaycake:
I had to wear tights when I went out last night, unheard of for me in August! Enjoyed the evening, OH as usual decided at around 11 that he needed to come home so we were back around midnight, he went to bed and I got some useful family history information, need one step further for information I really want....didn't get to bed until after 2am so slept until 9.30.
Tooties...just keep going forward, I think that you are wonderfully organised to be able to get on with your decorating so soon after a major set back...make use of the shoulders you can cry on if you need to. Small steps....
Ellie....good to hear of your benefit and the backdating, sorry to hear that you are in so much pain.
Smoky, hope that you OH's health problems are sorted soon...feel sorry for your step mum, broken pelvis is very sore and seems to have ongoing repercussions, DD4 broke hers seven years ago and has quite a bit of bother with one leg and hip since...mind you she didn't really do as she was told at the time.
Jackie...having mental pictures of your one legged shower...not too much longer and you will be able to wash the other leg!
Scuzz...at least you don't have to make any decision about job, might be no harm to get your blood pressure checked, mine used to plummet for no apparent reason, took b12 on prescription for some time which sorted it out
Csarina...good luck with storage and with attendance allowance application, every little helps!
Crazychik...good luck with holiday booking and enjoy it when you get there...if you can remember what the sun is like..
Hugs to all in need and want, have an enjoyable Sunday
