    Some HSBC payments have failed

    I've heard lots of HSBC incoming payments have been delayed. Check your bank account if you're expecting wages!

  • Hi everyone :wave: happy Friday on the eve of this BHW! :j 3 days of fun and frolicks! We have a busy, but on a budget weekend coming up :j

    Am late getting on as decided to get on and do some jobs rather than while away the hours on here! :p

    Small things for today:

    * checked banking and paid bff money I owed her (shhhhhhh for a 3 day holiday in Ibiza we have booked in Sept. Very MSE deal she bagged £132 for flight and accommodation)
    * spent some time researching things to do in Ibiza and how to do it on a shoe string
    * Flyladied kitchen
    * washed and froze yet more blackberries. Wine making this weekend! :j
    * wrote a list of bits I need to get while out later
    * load of washing on line
    * put pork joint in SC
    * write up MS assignment
    * do another MS assignment and write up report
    * go to Aldi and make use of super 6 while in town - list in bag of things to get, carriers in car ;)
    * vacuum throughout house in prep of weekend so we can enjoy it without doing house work :j
    * onepoll
    * list some more items on ebay
    * get out in the garden, do some plant care and idy up
    * all meals from stores except MS assignment (for me). Check through fridge/cupboard to make sure anything that needs using up gets used
    * post 2 ebay sold items when on way into town

    Ok think that's the things I need/would like to do. Going to go out in the garden now and make the most of it :beer:

    ccl thanks for starting the thread and kudos on the £12 school shoes! You are sooooooooo :money: I've read some threads about people spending £450 + on back to school clothes outfits :eek: It's been a while since I had kids at secondary school but I honestly don't think it will cost me that much. Am I in denial????

    greensalad OMG how amazing! :j So pleased for you, what a huge difference!

    kayannie lovely to have you back and thanks for sharing your personal story. The quality of life for people with illnesses & disabilities has improved so much over the last 10-20 years, and longer in your case! Glad that your dd has a rich and full life x

    jonno your 60p aubergine comment made me chuckle :D

    ziggy I long for the days when dgd sleeps in. Right now I consider 7am a lay in! :eek:

    twiggy :eek: at putting yourself through tough mudda. Are you mental???? :rotfl:

    Baileys babe liking your no nonsense style with your fam! I never made my children tidy up when they were young and as a result as they got older it got harder and harder. With dgd I do get her to tidy up and put her things away, put cups and plates in the sink, her laundry in the basket and her rubbish in the bin. She's only 26 months but I'm hoping if she does this when she's young it will be second nature as she grows up. It's taken me nearly 40 years to learn to be tidy and it's a constant battle!

    lego mum hope you feel back to top form soon x

    Afternoon DFW-ers,

    Quick post-and-run as I'm very tired and emotional. Can only manage a tiny list today. Thank goodness it's Friday. My brain's fried. Went to interview s'morning. (Not going to report all the ins and outs of my job-hunting. Just to say things are generally going well and I'll let you all know when I'm back in work.)

    Nillionaire Month Three:

    * Job-seeking tasks. Done.

    * Checked Finances online. Done. Had to re-do my Finances Spreadsheet for Sept. Miraculously we are still solvent. Despite a delayed JSA payment and no sign of Housing Benefit yet.

    * Pay rent.
    Done.

    * Check broadband allowance.
    Done.

    * Replace toothbrush heads. Use old heads to clean down plugholes before they went in the bin. Done.

    * Get off the sofa and do some exercise later if I'm able.

    * See if I can repair my nice-but-cheap watch.

    * Turn alarm clock off at the wall til tonight. Done.

    * Complain about broken whisk. Still haven't done this! Done, using free Resolver tool. (Link) Also received £15 Homebase gift card today in respect of faulty strimmer so OH can buy a new one now. And got a free charger and phone cradle from EE in place of EE Power Bar which was recalled for safety reasons.

    * Use Shopitize App for milk. Done.

    * Handwash jacket and allow to drip over the bath. Not paying for dry-cleaning. Done.

    I'll feel better when I've had a weekend.

    Keep it purple folks. :p

  • Hi All,

    Thanks CCL!

    Well done Greensalad with the dentist .it's scary enough going to the dentist let alone when you have to pay private prices!!

    Today I brought my lunch into work and... paid off one credit card! Yay!

    LBM-November 2019 - Total Debt £28,000/PAID!
  • Afternoon all :hello:

    Well today is pay day so I've updated my signature - such a great feeling to see the debt going down.

    - Not a NSD today...
    - Filled in the special licence form we need for the chapel where we're getting married and paid in full - we'd had the money put aside :)
    - Bought annual work parking ticket - again budgeted for
    - My grandma put a little something in our engagement card so going to pop to Matalan after work to get a nice photo frame (one with spaces for lots of photos) and some tea towels! She said to get something we could look at and say "grandma got us that for our engagement" - the frame that is not so much the tea towels! We're desperate for tea towels though and have enough to get them too

    - Updated budget for the month
    - FPL checked, surveys to do
    - All meals from stores
    - Uploaded a sofa for sale onto staff classifieds. Going to put more stuff on there tonight
    - Pick a date to do a car boot
    - Spoken to letting agents. There was a viewing of my flat last night and the person wants to rent it (it is a lovely flat). I've said I can move out sooner if the landlord agrees as the person is a PhD student and wants to be in before the start of term. Win-win for us both as it'll save me rent on somewhere I'm not staying in :). Will wait to hear back
    - Arrange with a friend what night we can drop off my old bed and mattress with her. I'm gifting it to her as she could do with a proper bed (her cat and her currently sleep on a futon) and she has had a bit of a rough time recently. Good to know it's going to a good home
    - Arrange with another friend what night next week we can drop off some furniture she's bought from me
    - Quick whizz around with the hoover when I get back and some ironing to do
    - Start a jigsaw puzzle a workmate got for me as a thank you for giving her a lift to a festival (she paid me for fuel too) - it has lots of dogs on it! :rotfl:

    Oh the good stuff keeps rolling in today. Dentist appointment reduced, and now my friend has given me £100 worth of clothes vouchers! He is leaving the company and couldn't be bothered giving them back (I don't think he gets the cash for them) so he's sent them to me! Arranged a visit with my friend to go shopping on Saturday 12th, guilt-free!

    Still got £20 in Love2Shop vouchers that I just cannot work out what to do with. Nothing I like in any of the available retailers :/ Guess I can keep them to use at Boots for shampoo/toothpaste etc

    Afternoon all :)
    Up most of the night with a screaming puppy :eek: Funnily enough it went to sleep fine on my lap on the sofa but couldn't possibly sleep in its bed :( Discovered it was actually quite cold downstairs at night, so will try with an extra fleecy blanket and leaving a small heater on :eek: tonight. Not MSE, but hopefully I will get some sleep! If I were here on my own I would just take it into bed with me (only weighs 1.2 kilos so doesn't take up much room) but OH is very much against dogs on beds - though he would never be the one that had to sit up with it! Same as when the kids were little :rotfl:

    Anyway, I went to bed for a couple of hours when OH got up, then had a shower, and don't feel too bad, though not exactly motivated :o

    Today's list:
    Did a load of washing up of roasting dishes, casseroles and saucepans at 2am :rotfl: I did a load of cooking yesterday evening, and left it!
    Checked banks
    Surveys
    HM meals from stores
    Small spend, sent OH out for chicken food, yogurt and olive oil (last 2 from Lidls so not expensive :))
    Cleaned out chickens run (OH helped)
    Picked some raspberries - red and yellow ones, enough for a few each :)
    Watered sweet peas and French beans despite the rain (they are in big pots)

    Still to do:
    Supper, which will be chilli from the freezer, with a jacket potato and salad Done
    Pick tomatoes and French beans Done
    Find a space in the freezer for 4 containers of stewed plums :eek: Done
    See what needs using from the fridge
    Freeze some more French beans (I already have loads, but they are a really high quality frozen product, more or less exactly the same as expensive branded frozen green beans, and it will be great to have them for the winter, though perhaps I won't grow quite so many next year). Needless to say we also eat them most days at the moment :rotfl:
    Prepare and cook down a basket of gifted windfall apples

    And hope that the puppy sleeps tonight so that I can!

    Hmm quite a few items will carry over to tomorrow's list :o
