Friday 28th August - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really important!

Good morning everyone
I couldn't see a thread so I really hope that nobody minds me starting one. Last day of the hols (weekends don't count), and I intend to make the most of it by relaxing as much as possible. It's also payday :j:j:j so I'm quite excited - YNAB is all up to date and I'm not going to do my usual 'go mad because it's payday' feeling.
I do have a couple of things that I need to do though before the madness of being back at work hits me.Check banking
Update budget
15 mins housework and declutter
Appointment in town later
Pay in cheque and money box funds
Meal plan for next week, including packed lunches
Check surveys
Read at least 3 chapters of my book
Watch DVD's with the kids later
I know that there will be more but my mind feels pretty empty at the moment.

Morning
Thank you crazy cat lady for getting us started today.
Today is bright and sunny which always gives me more energy and enthusiasm to get stuff done. We will be doing a team activity (everybody in the family), operation find the floor downstairs, wellies falling out of the cupboard, tools abandoned, lego, discarded clothes mainly socks & t-shirts, balls, bikes, sports equipment and who knows what else, if we all pull together we should be able to sort this out in an hour or two otherwise it could hang and stretch out over the whole day.
On the DFW front we plan to:
Post on DFW thread for support, inspiration and motivation
Open curtains fully to make the most of the natural light
Turn off appliances and lights not in use
FPL
NSD
B/L/D from stores
soak porridge overnight
Run DW overnight
Run WM overnight
Make bread
Check bank accounts
Close curtains before it gets dark
Cull 100 emails
Take meter readings
Submit meter readings
Cut open tooth paste tube
Dry laundry outside
Educate children for free
Entertain us & children for free

Morning all!
So I realised yesterday that yesterday was exactly a month until Tough Mudder - to say I'm unprepared is an understatement! Seriously need to up my training now my ankle feels up to it! However circuits last night was hard as 5 weeks out has obviously taken its toll on my fitness levels!
Today I have/will:-
* Check banks
* Check FPL
* Load of washing on 30 degree quick wash
* Washing hung on line - it was sunny, then it absolutely chucked it down and now its sunny again so fingers crossed it dries!
* Take lunch to work
* Earn more on OnePoll
* Update work expenses
* Go for a run/some sort of exercise - I vowed to do something every day now even if its just a long/brisk walk
* Dinner from stores
* More crochet
That's all I can think of for now but doesn't seem a very long list? Hope you all have a great day.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Morning All. Lovely and sunny here - long may it continue into the weekend (I fear not
)
My list for today:
Decided to work form home and not waste 3 hours commuting - much better for the soul
I'd already done my lunch before I decided this, so I will just eat that at home (amazing how far you can stretch a 60p Aubergine when you curry it :T)
Tea in slow cooker, beef stew padded out with pearl barley and loads of veg.
Check banking
Walk 7,000 steps for b0unt point
Run later for free exercise
do meal plan for next week and weekend
plan weekend activities - plan on using NT membership to try another site on Sunday rather than our usual haunts
Plan something for Monday - cheap as possible
try and find a waffle recipe that isn't full of sugar and oil that freezes well and make a batch
DW on overnight
Think that's all folks, have a lovely day0 -
Good morning to everyone - hope the sun is shining with you as much as it is here.
Bob - you said you'd wondered where I'd been - did you think I'd been knocked off my bike?!!
To be honest, I've never been much of a one for 'joining in', & seem always to loiter on the edge. Initially, it took me ages to pluck up the courage to post at all, & then for some unknown reason I stopped.
However, when I read Maria's post, I just had to respond as so much negativity is portrayed about CF. Yes, it is such a devastating thing to be told about a new baby, but as I said yesterday, giving my DD2 as an example, life can still be long & good.
Maria, I only posted late yesterday evening, so if you've not read all of yesterday's posts, then try & read my post about my 45 year old DD2 who has CF and has always lived life to the full (too full at times!!).
Now that I've joined in again, I will make a big effort to keep it up.
I've been looking after DGS for 2 weeks, an extra dog for 10 days, and had DD1 & partner staying. Everyone has now left & it is just me, DH & the dog. I've bought material (Laura Ashley sale bargain) for kitchen curtains & need to get them made, before hopefully going on holiday in a week or so. If the new curtains last as long as the previous ones I made from LA material, I shall be a very old lady!!

Eeeek I MANAGED TO FIND AN NHS DENTIST!
I'm so ecstatic. I called around all of them earlier this week and nothing was available. Then I called up the NHS Choices people to essentially beg them to help me find something, and that I would go wherever they wanted. And then suggested I ring one that was in my hometown but NOT showing on the list as accepting patients. And they had a slot! AND it's only a few mins walk from my house!!! Just saved myself £350!!0 -
