Oh dear - disastrous end to the month and a massive overspend of £50 and that's without including lunch out yesterday or the remaining days when I'll need to pick up milk and bread. So disappointed. This always happens when the skids are with us as DH can't be bothered to plan food and just splashes out on lunches. The debt is increasing and its getting me down. Really down :(

    Currently £405.61/£350 ...
Don't get down Dizzy - remember you are on a learning curve here. Just some ideas - don't know if they will help keep him on board.

My DH has a small monthly budget of his own and if he wants to splash out on something he has to pay for it himself.

Maybe you can compromise here and tell him you can't afford to lunch out but maybe a cake and coffee occasionally and take it in turns.

Tell him you can't afford lunches out but have a treat pud on these occasions.

    Had another NSD here today

Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday

nsd yesterday. yippee. ys hunting tonight with a friend. x
  • Under budget but this was the first month I've done it so it was quite a generous amount...next month want to try £360 including lunches at work which i left out this time - !!! I always mean to take my own but run out of time in the mornings...

uncreative I tried YNAB but found a month too long-term, overspent in the first half and then found it was difficult to scale back. Now I use a phone app which lets me budget a week at a time and a spreadsheet to take off all the fixed/regular bills so I know how much real cash is left. Then I use that divided by 4 (ish) per week as a budget for the phone app. This is working better for me now but everyone's different!

Good luck for October everyone. Some great ideas and help on here.

  • Hope you're feeling better Dizzy, you've done really well so far, I'm sure you'll be back on track soon.

Wysiwwyg - I'm thinking of adding work lunches into GC budget next month too, I'm not sure how it happens but time seems to vanish in the morning before I get a chance to make anything :(

hi all, spends of £12 yesterday, lots of 9p YS bargains and a big bottle of cockburns port that was on offer!!!! £2 left in the pot!
  • Well last day and i've run out of water for the packed lunches! I'm refusig to spend anymore money so they can re-use current water bottle tomorrow lol.

Anyway, finishing on £435/£400 and heading over to October now. I've had a lot of extras this month for birthdays and stuff and next month i'm away for 3 days, have a halloween party and DH's birthday! So again, need to be super careful!

See you all on the other side!
