Woop Woop, Last bit of shopping done and the total has come in at £486.67.
Our average spend was £575 so we had set ourselves a target of £500 this month and have stuck to it. We have left the change on the kitchen worktop in case we need any bread or milk over the next couple of days but I can officially declare that we have done it.

Nearly the end of the month and I feel like I'm losing motivation! Any tips on staying motivated?
Hope everyone else is doing well x0 -
Hiya everyone :hello:
That's me back from my sunny holiday in Ibiza, visiting my DS and having a great time.
Obviously had to stock back up on fresh stuff yesterday and also did a trip to the butcher, whilst I had DH with me with the car and to carry.
Managed an NSD today and not much left in the budget now. Only three days to go, so assuming I didn't forget anything, should be okay fingers crossed.
Hope you all have a money-saving Monday

I assume you pay cash for your shopping? I know that's recommended by lots of people but I always pay on my credit card as I also lose receipts (or DH just throws them away). It doesn't show you what you spent the money on but you can keep track of your totals.
I do like that my annual CC statement gives me a rundown of what I've spent on what but transport spends make me cry!
Thanks for the tip, however I wouldn't trust myself to pay the balance off each month :rotfl:
I've overspent this month due to sons birthday. So far I'm £12 over, and I'm gonna need milk and bread before Thursday so possibly be around £20 over..... Fingers crossed for some NSD!

Oh dear - disastrous end to the month and a massive overspend of £50 and that's without including lunch out yesterday or the remaining days when I'll need to pick up milk and bread. So disappointed. This always happens when the skids are with us as DH can't be bothered to plan food and just splashes out on lunches. The debt is increasing and its getting me down. Really down
Currently £405.61/£350 ...0 -
Dizzy, dont get down. Think about where you are now in the context of the journey you've come. To pay off that amount of debt so far is a massive achievement.
Have you tried YNAB? It makes you take that £50 overspend and take it from another area in the budget (so that it is zero-based). So if you overspend on groceries, you need to take it out of, for example, clothes, days out, haircuts, whatever. It forces you to soak up the overspend, thus causing a bit of pain to try and immediately teach you not to overspend as it comes out somewhere else.
The best part is you still stay within your overall monthly spend rather than truly going over that month.
You must have a pretty good handle on things to have repaid such a large debt amount already so sorry if you already have something that works.Total Credit Used...=........£9,000 / £52,700
