I think the quality of prizes on offer is shrinking and too many entires cutting down the odds on winning . Had a good year up to March then rubbish from then on .I am glad I had a holiday win and short break wins from last year that I have enjoyed and still to enjoy this year. Will keep plodding on in the hope of better things to come . It only takes one good win to nake it worth the effort.

Not a single win so far in 2015 after around 15000 entries - even worse than 2014. Agree with a few others that there don't seem to be as many good prizes that I WANT to win
Never had a Twitter win, only 1 facebook win 2 years ago, but was probably my best ever (applemac)
2018 wins : kids tennis set (WOW!)2019 wins - Thank God for TCB - a 10p and a 20p win 2020 - Bettys hamper - very nice, a notebook 2021 - £100 Jacks voucher (Jan)2022 - Bottle of Kiss ginMany many thousands of Twitter and IG entries without a sniff of a prize 2023 NOTHING b]Now well over 2.5 years without any win

This year has been terrible compared to the last 2 years. No big wins and just a couple of small wins. Saying that, I have also won 7 books in all from 2 wins on the same FB page (Bloomsbury Press) another book from Killer Reads on FB and 2 more books from Goodreads which is an independent web site (and only joined 4 weeks ago!) This seems to be my year for books which as an avid reader I'm pleased about, but have no aversion to winning Laptops, holidays, vouchers etc if the person who hands out competition wins is reading this! LOL

I've been on Goodreads since December (December gone) and have only won once! and I do use it for things like keeping track of books I've read and want to read.

I only started comping in August last year ... I had more wins from August - the end of December last year than I have had all of this year ... I did take a month out, but it's still down.

There's a proliferation of comping groups springing up on facebook. I've accepted invites to a few to check them out, though I've left many of them. But not before noting that they have thousands of members and most of them seem to be new compers. Some are waxing lyrical about their wonderful new-found hobby, whilst others are bemoaning that they have been comping for a whole week/month and haven't won anything. I have also noticed there is a big 'a win's a win' attitude - people will enter to win an empty paper bag and consider it a success if they win one - so companies can't really be blamed if they can get away with offering much poorer prizes and still get more entries.

  • My year hasn't been great. Compared to last year it's a lot slower and I'm averaging around one win every 2 months. But then I have less time for comping than I did this time last year so I guess it's evening out.
  • I agree hdh74. I remember a couple of years ago, many of us were miffed when a company listed a large Mars Bar on their FB page as a joke to see who would fall for it and enter.

But in the last few days on this board I've not only seen single chocolate bars listed, I saw a packet of sweets that is worth 50p (2 for £1 in Poundland) and I keep seeing Winnie the Pooh 'limited edition' baby wipes listed too. We have some. They cost 79p! And while people are doing the frantic 'pick me!' dance for a 79p item, the companies have no incentive to offer better prizes.
  • I was never a big winner. On average I would've won a prize a month, but it was always something I really wanted. eg a CD/DVD I liked or maybe £25 vouchers. Had some great prizes too - my favourite and best prize was a Mulberry handbag. In the past 18 months I've won 3 small things: A DVD, Nivea moisturiser and a packet of Ryvita Fruit Crunch, so yes, this year has been terrible for me too. I've noticed (in my experience anyway) that the comping spirit isn't as positive as it was. I had to leave a comping group due to the !!!!!ing & back biting and even received some horrible messages on FB from compers - no idea why. It's not like I'm a big winner. Also, some seem to comp for hours on end every day - this is just a hobby for me so my entries will be lower by comparison. I'm trying not to become disheartened. I remember that someone on the forum used to have the quote (or something like it) in their signature 'I am just a random number'. I keep telling myself that my name will be selected eventually. It's disappointing that ITV rarely have online entry anymore - I treat myself to a book of 2nd class stamps monthly now. An ITV win stills remains the holy grail of comping for me. I'm still not au fait with pinterest or instagram and all those apps like wamo are completely foreign to me! I'm just plugging away hoping for the best. Good luck to you all. Maybe we'll win something fabulous very soon. :)
Thanks to all of you for posting the competitions! Really appreciate it. :lovethoug
  • This has been my worst year in all the years i have been comping, i think it is being advertised more and more on tv and in news papers, and two many people are now getting in to it, I had an amazing year last year and i no it sounds silly but i think the more big things you win the more you expect big things all the time, i have had a couple of good wins this year and loads of little ones that keep me going in between, and i only enter for thing i would use so really love everything i win, i have won a Holiday every year since comping, But not this year :-( But i don't mind i no one will come a long soon,
