We've never had a problem with sitting together, we've always been asked where we want to sit and would we like a window seat. However, there was a girl who had to sit next to us who had a terrible fear of flying and was hysterical, as soon as she got to sit next to her husband she made a miraculous recovery
  • thanx everyone not sure i can pay for it now anyway now its booked but hopefully if we get to manchester early and being on our honeymoon they will sort us out

First Choice have self service check in terminals at Manchester. When we went to Goa @ Easter, everyone Q'd up and ignored them. So if theres a big Q, one of you can try the self service while the other stands in the Q.

for our honeymoon we flew with first Choice, we paid for seats together and also to go in the premium/first class whatever it was called then. Due to the seating configuration I think it may have been 2 3 2 in that cabin, as stated above by someone 'together' in airline terms can be across an aisle. We booked and paid months in advance and were sat side by side on way out, coming back however we got across an aisle. Their argument was that they aim for you to be next to each other on one leg but a few people will have the corss aisle option on the return flight. May not affect you but if it could bother you a plpeading letter to them in advance may help when they start plugging stuff into the computers on the day

if you get there early it should be fine, i've never had to pay extra and never had a problem - the issue will probably be the flight back as lots of people coming from resorts will all be on buses (possibly you included) so it's impossible to get there ahead of everyone else.

My boyfriend and I just got back from Jamaica last Monday - luckily we had great weather

We didn't even know but we had premier seats - definately worth it and needed for the long 10 hour flight. This doesn't guarantee seating together though, but ours did, plus more luggage (30k), drinks whenever you like, more legroom and width ect - oh and no queue at the airport this side Gatwick as own check-in desk. This was on a 2, 3, 2 basis, rather 3, 3 , 3 in the rest of the plane. There were quite a few children in premier and families of 6 spread across

but in Jamaica (Montego Bay airport) coming back it was a different story. Manic
  • Booked a holiday last week with First Choice to the Maldives. Couldn't afford to pay the £269 each they wanted to upgrade to their premier cabin (or what ever its called!). However after I made the booking, I telephoned them the next day and asked if they had any 'extra leg room' seats available. They did - for an extra £70 each, which for me is totally worth it for a 10.5hr flight. Re your sitting together - my thinking is that there are only a few extra legroom seats (exit rows, front rows), so if you could manage to get two of those seats, you stand a great chance of sitting together due there not being so many seating options (IYSWIM), and you get more room to stretch out at a fraction of the 'premier cabin ' cost.

A word of warning regarding the "extra legroom seats". In my experience these are usually located next to the loos. I certainly would not want to spend 9 hours plus next to the toilets and the associate hundreds of people coming and going and standing queueing next to you. They want to charge an extra £70 for that?

Regarding the "premier" cabin. We did that one year when we had a a really good deal. Yes, we loved it but would not pay an extra £250 each for the privilege. Only worth it if you are exceptionally tall (or wide),

We didn't get offered that when we booked our honeymoon with first choice and ended up with an aisle between us and they claimed there was nothing they could do :(

At the resort we were able to get the rep to prebook seats together for the way back and paid for that.

When I complained via email I was told that an aisle between is "together" and that if you are in a small group then seats in the row behind or in front are also counted as "together". So even if we'd paid the full fee to get seats next to each other, they can still separate you by an aisle or a row apparently!! And we wouldn't have got the money back if they'd done this.

So bit of a scam I think
