I get that ; providing an ip license doesn't employ many people and the point you posted in relation to was about the location of Apple's manufacturing activity so isn't really relevant (in that context)Left is never right but I always am.0

Nano electronics is a UK speciality. Though mainly in the design field.0 -
While Cameron was boasting about wanting to blast some other country to oblivion with Trident at the Tory conference, Jeremy was buying homeless people lunch.

What a thoroughly decent fellow.
Of course he can afford to do this as he lives in a rich country. The best way to help the poor is to get rich.
If he lived in an economy where the majority live on a 'dollar a day' (actually $1.90) or less he wouldn't be in a position to give welfare. A precondition of a welfare state is a rich country.0 -

And just to help the British tax payer out a bit more, Jeremy doesn't claim for any of his expenses.
He's a brick quite frankly, a brick.0 -

Very close ruggedtoast old fruit, oh the difference a letter makes.
I have no doubt that he thinks of himself as highly principled but he rather seems to be dropping the policies he was elected on as fast as he can. I suspect that he will go to the electorate with a very different set of policies to those he went to the Labour electorate on. You will then claim something implausible like the policies he took to the Labour Party are now being misrepresented by the Tory Press.0 -

A quick look at the HoC website shows that this is not the case. Did you have a particular category of allowances/ expenses in mind?Union, not Disunion

Engineering, which is what drives both the products and the manufacturing capability, is where we should be investing.
An interesting point you make there, though not one I feel comfortable with. I'm an Engineer myself (note the capital letter as befits such an honorable profession!), but don't confine the scope of the field to either the bloke who fixes the boiler or the academic researching in fluid mechanics. At the designer level, the designer is vastly improved with an appreciation of construction and use of hardware and even a software engineer can come unstuck if he looses sight of the basics.
So in essence while a design company can thrive when disconnected from manufacture, there's a symbiosis involved which can help greatly.
Manufacture takes many forms, computer chips and railway carriage wheels are examples.
One thing I've learned is that there is great deal of skill and expertise needed at all levels of engineering. They are skills which attract, and are matched, different people with different interests and different levels of education.
What in getting at is that to achieve satisfying employment within the population at large it is a great advantage to have a balanced economy with the whole range ,,, manufacture, design, services, arts and so on and so on. That not only benefits the economy through symbiosis but leads to a more content society.Union, not Disunion
I have a Right Wing and a Left Wing.

The luxury of opposition. Long may he enjoy it.0 -

Mr Corbyn claimed £143,918 out of a possible £145,000 in staff costs plus £15,000 out of £25,700 in office expenses for 2014-5.
He did not claim travel or second home costs but AIUI he isn't able to do so as a London based MP.
So Mr Corbyn claimed about 90% of expenses he was eligible for.0
