Independent claims to have a source close to corbyn saying he will stay on after defeat, certainly till September possibly longer.

As far as I can see there is no mainstream appetite in any European electorate for "hard core socialist policies". Apart from Greece. And a fat lot of good it did them voting for Syriza. All the Greeks got was more austerity and no socialism, hard core or otherwise.
When you have no money capitalism becomes indistinguishable from socialism. Can't redistribute what you don't have.0 -

There is a report here from the Grauniad about the 'difficulties' faced by Labour as regards the candidate selection process, and quotes a "senior party source" who explains;
That places quite a lot of power with trade unions. It’s likely the unions will do deals that get them all a share of the vacancies, and that reduces the chances of too many parachutes of Momentum or pure Corbyn supporters coming through, apart from Unite-backed candidates,”
But lots of Corbynista MPs have big enough majorities to come through the election intact – and the numbers needed are dropping because the total number of MPs will be slashed, so they might not need the McDonnell amendment after all, to get one of theirs on to the ballot. If that is the case, I expect Corbyn would resign. If they are short, they will seek to hold on to conference.

What is normally proposed as 'socialism' is really no more than state capitalism, so that would be no surprise. The trouble with the state capitalists is that they always run out of money.:)

If he does badly he may well announce his resignation -- which will happen after the party conference in September and after a vote by the membership to change the selection rules.Labour party to hold emergency selections for constituenciesAbout 10 Labour MPs are planning to stand down, creating a battle over their winnable seats between those loyal and opposed to the leadership.
The make-up of the parliamentary party after 8 June will be extremely significant as any potential leftwing candidate to succeed Corbyn would need 15% of support of MPs and MEPs.

If enough leftwingers make it into parliament, allies of Corbyn may no longer need to pass a rule change – nicknamed the McDonnell amendment – at conference, which would reduce the threshold to 5% and guarantee the chance of a successor candidate on a future leadership ballot.“But lots of Corbynista MPs have big enough majorities to come through the election intact – and the numbers needed are dropping because the total number of MPs will be slashed, so they might not need the McDonnell amendment after all, to get one of theirs on to the ballot. If Labour are going to move substantially to the left from Blair and remain there then we can just count the years as the current tribal Labour supporters die and Labour dies with them.
The only person to lead Labour to victory for 40 years was Blair. These idiots don't realise that Labour isn't a brand like Marlboro or Coke, you don't just take it over and win by owning the big brand. If people don't vote Labour the victory means nothing.0 -
Some people earning £70,000 do not feel rich, says Emily Thornberry
Shadow foreign secretary defends John McDonnell’s rough definition of rich but concedes wealth is relative to other factorsWhen pressed to define who the rich are, McDonnell said: “The rich will be above £70,000 to £80,000 a year and that’s roughly defined as what people feel is an earning whereby people feel they can pay more.”

Corbyn & McDonnell will clearly spew out an endless stream of "catchy" policies in the hope that eventually a policy chimes with the voters. All the others will likely be ditched as soon as they're floated. A more amusing aspect of them is that they have literally no commitment to their own supposed ideals.0

Without an alliance with Brown would never had happened. Blair never managed to change the party either. Merely sellotaped the factions together. Now they are back in the wilderness. Puppets of their Union Masters.0
