No, no, and no again.:)
It's an ad for the Socialist Party of Great Britain. The Socialist Party is what Militant, previously the Revolutionary Socialist League, now calls itself. They are a bunch of Trots.
The Socialist Party of Great Britain are Marxist purists, untainted by the Bolshevik heresy, and have been since 1902. Or thereabouts. But in any case, they are not a bunch of Trots.
I think I'm glad I didn't know the difference.
Corbyn shows the stark difference in job duties between MP, any senior party position and cabinet/shadow cabinet minister. I've no doubts Corbyn is an excellent MP, possibly one of the country's most diligent. However, being a senior party spokesman is a quite different set of skills, as is leader (of party and opposition). I honestly wonder how realistic it is to expect someone to represent tens of thousands of people (how many green biro letters must they get daily?), design and implement party policy, do the usual TV/radio slots they're all expected to, and actually run the country if they're a cabinet member. Oh, and maintain some semblance of family life, and have a couple of hobbies so they don't get ridiculed for being a politics geek or out of touch with the man on the street. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -

I quite understand.
For reasons I shan't go into, I know far more about the leftist sects of Britain than any sane person should.0 -

Is is because you're an MI5 operative who's been going undercover to find out what these beardy sandal wearing lentil munchers are plotting next? Sorry if I've blown your cover."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -
And while deep undercover you'd have been obliged to impregnate a load of hippy chicks so would have estranged kids called things like Stonehenge, Raven and Sky.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
Labour need to get rid of Corbyn and re-evaluate what they really stand for going forwards if they want to be relevant again, Corbyn is trying to sell a message which was more relevant in the 80's than it is today and it still wasn't popular enough to win an election then.
In order to come anywhere near succeeding, they would first need to have a credible, intelligent and charismatic leader, who people could believe in, and who could convince the majority that labour would meet British people's current aspirations, would not bankrupt Britain, and would not have allegiance to some out-of-date, pie-in-the-sky, 40-year-old, communist and anti-British sentiments. It is unfortunate that there is absolutely no one like that, who would be capable of winning over the majority of people, and that there is no other party that could form a strong and credible opposition.:cool:0 -
...In the meantime Newsnight last night laid bare the ineptitude wrought on Venezuela suffering complete chaos, 141% inflation, staple goods unavailable, day long bread queues....
And a suspended parliament. When there is a 'higher power' involved you can always dispense with bourgeois concepts of democracy.gadgetmind wrote: »And while deep undercover you'd have been obliged to impregnate a load of hippy chicks so would have estranged kids called things like Stonehenge, Raven and Sky.
I'm taking the fifth on that one.0 -
In order to come anywhere near succeeding,... .
Depends on your criteria for success.
There are a lot of people on the Labour left who would regard a 20% vote share in 2020 as a resounding victory if the Labour Party fought on the basis of truly 'socialist' manifesto. You might regard that as an electroral disaster; they would regard that as a good start.0 -
It is fairly obvious that the plan by the unions is to put tom watson in place in '19 who will then be 'sensible' to the centrists and still follow the spirit of corbyn for the faithful.I think....0

As this is the politics thread, does anyone else find cameron's choreographed 'battle' with the eu over hiss 'deal' completely sickening. Guess what, it will be a struggle, but he will stand firm for britain and achieve a victory for us to vote on in the referendum. Has political life always been so obviously stage-managed.I think....0
