I have Standard Broadband which is fine for my needs, I live approx 150 yards from the exchange and get speeds around 16/17mb.I was paying £12.50per month , contract was due to end at the end of September.I phoned in the middle of July when I heard about the new round of price increases.New contract 18 month for £2 ( yes two, I couldn’t believe my ears) per month , will increase next month to £4.50, but quite happy with that.It kicked in straight away and my August bill was discounted.A few months ago I had an engineer out FOC , ...my Broadband kept dropping, he was here for well over 2 hours and eventually found the trouble was ‘ white noise’ interference from a Lumigen ‘ thingy’( it gives better picture quality) It had burned something or other out .We switched it off and the Broadband has not dropped once since. Was delighted with the service from BT so reluctant to change.

Thanks for all the recent updates guys. My BT bband is due to expire within the month
I currently pay £43 for Superfast fibre 1 (50mb ) , plus line rental. Looking now , that's so high , but I did get a £100 mastercard at the start. Ive also been getting BT Sport HD for 'free' in that price .

Just wondered if anybody had the free BT Sport , and if so , did they manage to haggle price down without losing it.

    Thanks.

Just a quick note - if you manage to agree any offers when on the phone to BT , make sure that they send the full details in an email.

I will explain more in due course
  • Hi

I’ve neglected my BT renewal and my contract expired some months ago. Am currently on fibre broadband with the entertainment package and Sport in HD which is costing almost £70!!!

I’ve called to discuss a renewal and been offered the below for £53 which seems really expensive...

    BT+
    Max TV package
    Sports HD

Any tips on getting the price down further??

    Cheers

Your contract has not expired, your minimum term is over. You are now in a rolling monthly contract with 30 days notice (sometimes 14 days for BB) needed for cancellation.

You don't actually give notice if switching BB anyway as your new supplier manages the switch over. It'll be worth a call to see if they'll give you a decent discount, do your research first though so you have numbers to throw at them.
  • Thank you both - spent 20 mins on a phone number provided in this forum and got the following:

    - Max HD TV package
    - Superfast Fibre 1 Broadband
    - Unlimited weekend calls
    - Sport HD

All comes to £36.99 on an 18 month contract when the number on the main BT site couldn’t offer better than £53.99 :)

No fibre available in this area but got standard BB and line rental down to an effective £23.60 a month (£24.99 for 18 mths with one month free).

They said they could not match never mind beat the £4 I am paying for BT TV with the recording box and to try calling again in 4 mths when the contract for that was up.

    Hi all,

I'm currently well out of my contract with BT and paying £66 a month for unlimited BB, essential TV, unlimited weekend calls and BT sport.

Just called up their cancellation line and after going through the usual, Sky can offer what I want for this etc, they could only reduce it to £57 per month.
I told them I would go away and think about it and get back to them.

How did some of you lot manage to get them down to £35???
